Dear Mr. ******:

The Admission Committee has completed its review of Early Action applications to Boston College. At this time, we have decided to postpone action on your application for admission to the University. This means your application will be reviewed again in the next context of our entire application pool for this year during the Regular Admission period. We will communicate a decision to you no later that April 15, 2007.

Nearly 6,000 candidates submitted applications for Early Action consideration. The Early Action review process is higly selective, and admission is offered only to those candidates with the very strongest credentials. This ensures that all candidates applying to Boston College under Regular Admission are treated will full consideration and fairness. Your application will recieve another thorough and objective evaluation when the Admission Committee convenes again in January.

We are grateful for your interest in Boston College and the fact that you applied through the Early Action program. Please make sure your first semester grades are forwarded to this office when available. Also, we are interested in new achievements or distinctions you might have earned since your application was completed. If you have any questions regarding your application, please feel welcome to contact me.

Best wishes to you and your famiy for a peaceful holiday season

Sincerely yours,
Ivone Foisey
Senior Assistant Director
Undergraduate Admission

DEFERRED:

Stats:
SAT: 2110 (Reading 720, Math 620, Writing 770)
SATIIs: Lit. 730, MathIC 630, Chem 630
GPA: UW 3.85, W 4.9
Rank: 7/317

Subjective:
Essay: Rushed, so not extremely well-written, but amazing content...or so I thought. (Lived in Ecuador for a year, really touched by the native/poor people and wanted to help, started a business this fall in the States selling Ecuadorian crafts at school, all profits benefit schools from the town the crafts came from.)
Teacher Recs: Great
Counselor Rec: Pretty good, but not too personal. My principal wrote a letter as well, partially about the Ecuador Exchange (My business I mentioned above.)
Hook: Started the Ecuador Exchange

Location/Person:
State or Country: NJ
School Type: Competitive public school
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female

Other Factors:
Extracurriculars: 3 years Debate, 4 years science league, lots of community service at church.

Why I think I was accepted/deferred: I'm a white female from NJ, and my test scores aren't amazing enough to make me stand out.

Other thoughts:
-I need to send my Bio score, which is probably a 720-30 and my Spanish score which is probably an 800 or close. So that might help a bit.
-I got an Edward J. Bloustein award/scholarship to schools in NJ...I don't know if BC would care. It's given to all the top 20 students in the class, so I'm not sure how important that is.
-I also plan to send a brief (5 sentence max) paragraph telling about the success of my business...I don't think there's anything else I could send though.

Well...I'm really disappointed. BUT there's always regular decision, so I guess it's back to waiting.

Does anyone know how many people they defer and how many they reject? Is it like...they defer pretty much everyone who wasn't accepted..?

For early action I saw on a post that they Accepted 33%,Defer 33% and reject 33% and that they accept 20% of the people deferred

btw, i was accepted into the carroll school of management

Decision: ACCEPTED CAS HONORS!

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Pennsylvania
[] School Type: Decent public school
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Female
[] Major strength/weakness: -
[] Why you think you were accepted:
[li] Going to attend? It's possible![/li][/ul]Other Factors: Never though I'd get into the Honors program! So excited.

Congrats to all those accepted, and good luck RD to anyone deferred! 20% still get in!

can everyone just calm down for a second i have a couple questions that need to be answered...i am a legacy who got deffered and is very unhappy at the moment....first of all, how does a defferal affect your future canidacy?? Negative Positive or Equal?? second, how many of the deffered canidates get in RD?? and can people get rejected from EA?? if so how many vs how many get accepted vs how many deffered (percentage wise)

look at post 51

Uhh, why does everyone have to "calm down a second" so you can ask questions that have already been answered?

Decision: Accepted School of Management Honors

Going to attend? Waiting on the Presidential Scholars Letter hopefully...
Other Factors: My buddy got deferred and as happy as I am I'm still pretty bummed that he has to wait until April to get his acceptance letter

Congratulations to all who were accepted early and good luck to all those deferred

yo tushar707 what were your stats???

man, i got to do so much stuff now that i am deffered, it would have been sooooo much easier if i was accepted....and idk if those are legit numbers on the 51th post, ive heard much differently...like 20 percent EA acceptances and like 50 defferal

qrd567--I just wanted to ask you...where did you get those stats? (the 33, 33, 33 ones; I heard about the 20% of deferrals accepted) I know you said a post but I was wondering if there was another source you knew of. Thanks!
