Sorry for the bad formatting in my "accepted" post. I also wanted to note for the stats that I took the most rigorous courseload available (8 AP courses, and numerous honors courses) I am a NatMerit Semifinalist, Nat AP Scholar, National Honor Society. My GPA is 4.4, 3.8 weighted. I also took some university-level math and sci courses during the summer of soph and junior year . I feel my ACT (31) was kinda low, but I was too lazy to take it again. My SAT of 2210 could have been improved upon too, but it was pretty good. I kinda take issue with this the person posting that BC is not accepting those who are "too qualified" or "considering other schools" That is totally illogical - nearly everyone except a few ED's - are applying to other schools and waiting to see what the scholarships, etc. would be. Most anyone would love to get accepted and attend BC, I know I am happy and likely will attend!

Other Factors: uh, decided to apply on 0ct. 31? got everything together in 24 hours.

hope i included anything, i just copied someone else's format...

bcon1388-I did take the ACT once and got a 34. I sent that to BC.

qrd567- I don't know why I was deferred.

I looked at everyone elses stats and I'm right in there. Plus I was National Merit commended and a bunch of other honors. I got all A's this fall semester with 3 AP/ honors classes so I'll send those grades and I'll send my SAT II results which are in the 700s. I didn't send them originally because my SAT I the first time was 2050 or something and I got a 34 on the ACT the first time. I figured why let BC see a lower SAT if they didn't need to.

your credentials were definitely good enough to get in, so you most likely got deferred for not sending in the required scores. If they're all in by now I bet you will get in regular.

TourGuide446-
I have no idea if I'd chose ND or BC. I was hoping to get into one of them and I can't fathom getting in to both. I figured I had a better shot at BC and either get deferred or rejected from ND. I have no hook anywhere.

On the ND side, I know many on this BC forum may disagree, but Notre Dame is considered a "better school" academically by many people I talk to. Also.. it's Notre Dame. I haven't visited yet so that's still out there.

On the BC side, my entire extended family lives is New England-all within 90 miles from BC . That's very tempting. I've spent time there every summer and I like the area. Boston is much more appealing than South Bend and I liked the BC campus.

Algoss, I'd agree ND seems to get the nod in academics. Part of that is no doubt because BC is surrounded by the likes of Harvard, MIT, Wellesley, and Tufts, whereas ND has South Bend and the rest of northern Indiana all to itself. Also, ND has been a household name for almost a hundred years, while BC has evolved from a regional to a national school in just the last 2 or 3 decades (and with the way applications are rising every year, it should keep evolving).

The only thing that is certain is that if you pick BC, you'll probably regret it every time you see ND play football on TV; and if you pick ND, you'll probably regret it every time you want to do something interesting off-campus. Good luck, wherever you end up.
