Were you deferred, wrathofgod?

I was deferred by MIT. 45 hours...

LOL, your user name reminds me of a warrior on our World of Warcraft server, named Frankytank.

Frank the Tank is also a character in the movie Old School. I didn't find out until after I chose the name. Someone called me that repeatedly on a math team trip, and I thought it was cool, but that was before I found out about the movie.

2 more days! To answer duality, yea i did get deferred from Yale. haha nice try with the HTML, frank.

Good luck again, you guys!!

It it going to be at 3 pm EST on the 11th? I think I remember seeing that somewhere.

Edit: Good luck to all of you!!!

Is it true that for every semifinalist an Intel rep comes to their school and presents a BIG $1,000 check? I saw this on a girl's blog- she was a finalist last year. You can check it out here:

This would be very exciting!!!

yep. Intel just updated its website. http://www.sciserv.org/sts/

Bgrill--If I remember from Amber's blog correctly, that was for when she made finalist (and I don't believe they do that for everyone, but they might!).

anyone can participate in isef?

they did present her and her friend, who only made semifinalist, both with big checks. I think they did that just cuz Amber made finalist and it would be easier that way. On the Intel website, it says checks are mailed to semis and finalists after March 14th.

You're right. It seems like the check to her non-finalist friend was done out of kindess, so that she might not feel "left out."

Wow, less than 36 hours.

still, that would be awesome if Intel mailed semis large checks like those in March.

I think it was more of a ceremony type thing. 37 hours. I don't think my friend (finalist) was presented with any big checks. I think that was just a local thing.

It sucks to be up at 2:00 AM finishing up an English paper. Not actual writing, but doing around 40 endnotes, and the tastiest snack item I have is a box of raw phyllo dough because I didn't have any time to make anything tasty out of it, for obvious reasons.

A local thing? That makes sense. I have a HUGE Intel FAB right by my school that basically supplied the funding for the school to be built and still sponsors us a lot-- maybe thier PR dept would do something like that. They are really involved with our school science fair, which eventually feeds into ISEF.
29 hours 15 minutes...

Keep in mind that the 3PM time is the official internet announcement time. Most schools that had Intel semifinalists in the past are notified much earlier than that time on Wednesday, usually by members of the press (who are informed ahead of time) who call the school to schedule interviews.

So most semifinalists are interviewed by the press?

No, I don't think so. However, I think many finalists are; Businessweek apparently sponsored a sort of discussion about various issues for the finalists, and my friend was apparently quoted in Businessweek.

I don't think my school has been notified. Then again, I don't think my school has had Intel semifinalists or whatnot, at least not recently.

Mine neither... supposedly we had a finalist in the 50's, though!
<21 hours!

I'm really new to this whole intel thing and i was reading about the finalists on the website from last yr...a good majority seemed to be valedictorians with 1600s....coincidence? or does intel really take into account the entire student in relation to their project? thanks
