Only homeschooled students have their PSATs mailed to them. Otherwise, they are sent to the schools for distribution. We don't see them til mid January around here because the counselors have big "explain what the scores mean" meetings for students and parents.

We only get ours back after the December break =(.

However, we also took them in freshmen year (I'm now a Junior), so here're my results from my freshmen year. They're kinda bad. XD:

54 CR
54 Writing

63 Math

171 Total

Hopefully I've improved.

lol.... those arnt bad as a frosh.......

you learn some of the material as frosh soph and mabye juniors

U prob did a lot beter than u think

225 in DC. Is the PSAT score the only thing that determines whether you are a semifinalist?

CR 53
M 80
WR 58
=> 191

and i got 93 percentile overall.

is this really true? how can i get 93 percentile? i got 53 and 58

is it because i live in Canada?

i expected about 65 for writing but i think i totally screwed up

...
I'll probably be short of nm semifinalist. How do colleges look at commended students?

It depends on the state. If you live in like MA where the cut-off is super high, commended isn't so bad. But, if your state has a lower cut-off, like low 210's or 200's, then commended isn't AS impressive.

What if you get a 214 in a state where the cutoff is 215. Is that still impressive?

I just received scores back today. Our school doesn't distribute the reports until Monday, but my counselor showed me my score. I got a 225, here in Kansas, which guarantees me semi-finalist status (Cutoff this year is either 214 or 215). I am pretty excited right now, because it means good scholarships at most state schools. Of course there is a bit of a damper put on it because my older sister, now a sophomore at Emory on a full scholarship, had a 229 when she was in high school. Even when I win I can't win. Scores were sent to schools this week, so if you are really dying to know what yours is but your school won't release them for a while, go talk to a counselor you like and see if you can just get them to tell you. That's what I did, and I couldn't be happier right now. By the wat, I took the Wednesday, October 18th test. I have yet to see the points breakdown, but I anticipate that I scored highest in CR and Math.

I'm a sophomore, and my school's moronic- we take two years of algebra before geometry, so alot of sophs do badly on the math because we haven't had enough practice.

Total: 199
CR- 69- 99 percentile
M - 60- 91 percentile
W- 70- 99 percentile

96 percentile overall.

I was feeling bad about my scores before I talked with other people and looked at people's here- I thought mine were way below normal sophomore scores.

We haven't really gotten our scores back yet, but my counselor caught me around and let me know.

CR - 80
M - 80
W - 75
Total - 235 (Wednesday)

By the way the other scores are going, that looks like 2 wrong on writing.

Damn dude? 235?

Awesome job, Arthur. I hope you don't live in NJ :)

Two wrong on writing on Wednesday = 75
Two wrong on writing on Saturday= 74

That could be the difference between a 215 and 214 for me. Last year's NMS cutoff in Oregon's was 215.

Haha, thanks. And no worries, I live in CA, there're enough of these scores around the state that mine won't have a drastic effect on the cut-off. :P

yea..i missed two on the writing (wed test) and also got a 75. I guess i made NMS as well, unless any state has a higher cutoff than 230

Yeah, there was this kid during our freshmen year who took it and got above a 200..crazy.

^well depends on which school you go to...for my freshman calc class, half of us got over 200

Not many freshman take calc. Self selective pool + brains + motivation = good score.

Reading - 2 wrong, 0 omit - 78
Math - 0 wrong, 0 omit - 80
Writing - 2 wrong, 0 omit - 75
Total: 233

To anyone who is looking to improve their math score, go for it. A year ago (as a sophmore) I got a 69 in math.

yeah... me too! I got a 69 last year, and got an 80 this year... i am so happy!
