I am in Horton.

horton’s nice.

“hinton james… how good of a dorm is that?”

hahahaha. i’m sorry. my laughter is all in good fun. let’s just say you’re in the freshman experience dorm.
with ac you’ll be just fine.

i got everett with air-conditioning i guess its in the olde campus lower quad, anyone know anything about it?

someone enlighten me about hinton james please

Hinton James is the quintessential (sp?) freshman dorm. There is approximately a million floors (and by a million I mean 10) and it is basically ALL freshmen, yet somehow I was only friends with like 2 people that lived there last year. Suites (this holds true for Ehaus and Craige too) have 4 rooms so there are 8 people to one toilet and shower. It’s a solid 15-25 minute walk to class, but there’s three bus stops nearby. You’ll be sick of it by the end of the year, but it’s a fun social experience.

I got assigned to Hinton James but I want to be in Parker.

I found someone who is in Parker and wants to switch with me and my roomate because she’s interested in Open Visitation (Parker is ALL standard visitation)

However, when I saw my assignment it said that I have Standard Visitation in Hinton James. Because we’re interested in switching, would it be possible to change it to open visitation for her? I mean how does that really work out anyways…shouldn’t it be the preference of the person?

Call housing.
Except wait until tomorrow, because they close at 5.

Grimes
:)

I’m in Aycock, which I hear is an all-girls dorm. any advice?

I got my 4th choice… oh well :\ Craige north instead of craige, at least.

Cloying can give all you north campus kids better advice than I can since I’ll be new to north campus this year.

Craige north/horton/koury/hardin are definitely something to not be disappointed with! They’re in a south campus location so you’ll be around a lot of freshmen, but the rooms are nicer and there’s only 4 people to a bathroom.

Spencer 0231

I’m in Connor, too. It wasn’t even on my list of choices, but the location looks really good (I wanted North Campus and Honors roommate), it’s air conditioned, and the floor plan seems a decent size, so I can’t really complain. Anyone else headed to CTOPS on Thursday? See you there!

heathergee, what did you mean “there’s only 4 people to a bathroom”? I will live in Craige North and do you mean that all our 4 people will shower one by one or together in a big bathroom?

She means you’ll share one shower.

Grimes is great! One of my best friends lives there. You are extremely close to classes, the gym, and Lenoir. Plus your community is a fun one. They have barbecues all the time.

Connor is in a great location, too - the tennis courts are right behind you, you’re right beside the gym, and right across from the Student Union and library.

For everyone except in the Kenan Community or Old East/West on North - you have tile floors, and that’s gross. You need to get a rug. Even people in the Kenan Community should think about getting a rug. It’s crazy how dirty your feet will get!

There is no difference between standard and open visitation. I had ‘standard’ visitation but it means NOTHING. No one will ever even say anything about it. It just isn’t an issue ever.

Aycock is an all girls dorms - but, hey, I was really disappointed when I found out I was in an all girls dorm, even if it was Kenan. Turns out, I’m really glad I was in it. It means I can lounge around in gym clothes in the lobby and not care, and I absolutely loved the girls on my floor. I wouldn’t have lived anywhere else. And what you’ll find is that in dorms where guys are on one floor and girls another, is that there really isn’t that much interaction between floors. Unless your really good friend is on a different floor, during the week people just don’t really explore the other floors. I kind of wish they did, but it’s just a human nature thing.

First I was assigned to Ehaus with no A/C, so I went to the housing office and they put my roomie and I in Horton. Roomie is trying to get us onto North Campus!

can anybody tell me about Horton?

cloying, does grimes have all guys on one floor and all girls on another?

Does hinton james have alternating coed floors/halls?
or is it every other room is a guy and girl dorm?
