How many of you have submitted or are planning to submit. Fewer than 2 weeks left!!!

I am. Planning to, that is.

1 quick ?
It says u can send up to 3 letters of recommendation.
Will sending only 2 hurt you? I will have 2 very strong ones and 1 ok one, and would rather just send the very strong ones.

2 is fine. I mean, if they repeat the same stuff about you (one of the 2 and the third rec) then there's no point in sending that third one out. Hence, I got a school teacher and my SRTP advisor for my recs to get two different aspects of my scientific mind.

yeah im doing the same (school teacher and research adviser).
Another question: by the 100 word summary, what do they mena by "in lay men's terms." How much do you have to dumb it down? F/e, could I talk about x-ray noise, or do I have to talk in general terms about image degradation in x-ray devices.

hmm is one rec enough?

I'm only sending one rec. My teachers don't know jack about my research, anyway. ^_^

How does one enter Intel?

u submit the form + paper etc.
Materials are on Sciserv.org
if you didnt start yet, itll be difficult to make the November 14th deadline (8PM!).
Anyone know about the 100 word summary?

What about the summary? It's self-explainable--you basically "dumb down" your project for the media. If you don't know how far down you have to go, ask yourself this: if you gave the summary to your parents or someone at the mall, would they be able to understand it? I understand that some projects are extremely complex, but if you're working on a project that's at such a high level, you're probably smart enough to dumb it down to a great extent.

Anyway, from how they put it, I doubt that the summary will be an integral part of their choosing of the semifinalists.

Mathwiz90, do you think we can ask Dr. R for a teacher/advisor rec? Or is that purely for school teachers...?

NVM I'm getting recs from my bio and chem teachers. GL to all.

Dam - Dr R counts as 1 recommendation (you can ask up to 2 other teachers).
Im only getting from my calc/physics teacher (he worked in a similar field so he knows my research).
Am I allowed to use any scientific nomenclature for the summary? How dumbed down does it have to be?

can a 2nd grader understand your research? If you know your research well enough it should not be difficult to "dumb it down"

yeah I did dumb it down in 100 words, but it leaves out explanation that I feel is necessary. I guess Ill send that in, but it is cheating the reader, IMO

any1 done wit the paper yet?
6 days

finally!
so i guess there's nothing to do, just have to wait until jan (15?)

care to tell us what your project was on?

how long are all your papers?

my siemens paper was 20, and my intel is 20 now (and will almost definately be 20)
