still working on my submission lol. oh, and bump

Ok, for the five questions about scientific attitude...what the hell do we put for inventiveness? I've made only one "discovery" worth mentioning but "new and exciting?" That it certainly is not.

.... yes I am relying on overnight mail, it should be there by noon on the fourteenth.

I put one discovery and one creation related to the research I submitted. Nothing amazing, but it works. How long were u peep's essays?
I have 2 300 word ones (lol), 2 upper 290s, and one 280. Not that they are supposed to be so close to the limit.
Are you supposed to include just one copy of the paper + forms, or more?

So, I completely bs-ed my essays, especially the scientific attitude one. It's only 210 words, and it's the first essay the readers read, too. Lol.

My paper is in environmental sci catagory, and I heard there's less ppl doing this catagory. Is it true that they always take at least one person from each catagory as finalist? cuz that'd be so sweet.

^IDK. I notice not a lot of good medicine/health applicants exist, most of the top-tier are in chemistry, material science, physics, math, biochemistry, and cell biology. (Which helps me, as the condition I'm studying, from a pharmacological standpoint, is relatively small in publicity)

i wonder how many siemens semis+ make intel semi+ and how many dont

I would have done siemens but I got sick in september :(

Also mathwiz why is your paper like 20 pages long, you're making me feel incompetent with my meager 13 page report (not really but still lol)

well my report is largely experimental. Sorry bout siemens. I also had a small problme. I told my partner to do like 1/2 of the paper, he kept sayig hed do it, but didnt. A few dyas before the deadline, I noticed he wasnt going to do it, so i did the whole thing myself.

Does anyone know how many applicants submit a project? Why do they ask for you SAT scores/class rank?

they ask for sat etc. bc they want the students with teh most promise as scientsits, not necc. the best research.
I think ~1700 projects are submitted

again, does anyone know if tehres a high correlation b/t siemens semi+ and intel semi+?

How much do other factors such as GPA, SATs, recs, essays, transcript, etc. play a role in the selection process? Is it mostly just based on your paper or do these other things play a large role too?

I have a question,
I gave my counselor my Intel stuff a long time ago and she sent the stuff mid-sept so Intel for sure has it now. But my problem is that I took the Oct SAT, so what I have on the SSR is different :( How can I change my SAT score? does it even matter?

I dont konw if oyu can change it UNLESS you send a NEW SSR with the updated information. Maybe call intel and ask if you can send the new score report ,and if they'd consider that. Is it a small/moderate difference, or >100 points (on 2 sections)?
I was told they pay a lot of weight on grades/essays/recommendations/extra currics, but it syas on the WEBSITE the paper is given MOST of the weight.

well I am sure the paper is the most important thing.

yea I gained ~200 pts on the SAT lol so I am probably going to just have my counselor sign it again or something. I really hate how we don't have school on monday and everything is soo rushed :(

wait...we need to send an official score report? ***....

No, your counselor fills out that form that is part of the entry form. You don't actually send your scores from CB.

"I notice not a lot of good medicine/health applicants exist, most of the top-tier are in chemistry, material science, physics, math, biochemistry, and cell biology"

Anyone know where to find this list, or are you going by previous years submissions? Just curious, mine falls in the medicine/health category, and just curious on the other topics that have been covered.

I'm actually mad I HAVE school tomorrow (Im probably not going bc i have to print the paper, get everything together, and mail it).
Basically done with everything. Just need to add 1 picture (which im trying to get out of a 100 MB ZIP!!!) and print everything out.

how do you have school tomorrow mathwiz90? do you going to boarding school or something?
