So how many of you plan on taking the AP Chemistry exam in May? I'm sure there are plenty of you out there. Let's use this thread as a discussion for topic matter, and questions that we may have about the test in general.

Just wondering, what part of the curriculum are you guys up to? We're a bit behind, since we are starting equilibrium this week.

We finished equilibrium, and we just have acids/bases, thermodynamics, and a couple more topics. My teacher told me we’d be done about a week before the AP exam. If you’re studying from Chemistry and Chemical Reactivity by Kotz, we have just chapters 17-20 to finish.

AP Chem is awesome, you learn how to use your mind more!
Topics covered:
Solutions
Atomic structure/geometry stuff
Kinetics and Thermodynamics
Phases
Nukes
Gases
Is our class behind/just right?

Anyone else using Zumdahl? We’re on kinetics now and according to our teacher we have four chapters and the nuclear chemistry chapter we skipped during winter break…seems kind of far behind :P

We did kinetics a month ago, so you are behind for sure. Have you done equilibrium, acid-base equilibria, electrochemistry or thermochemistry? I’m guessing that these are the four chapters you have left. These are the four hardest chapters and are covered most on the AP.

We have two chapters left and skipped nuclear chemistry as well.

We’ve done the chapter with Hess’ Law (Zumdahl), so I guess it’s just equilibrium and acid-base things left. When does one study oxidation-reduction reactions, or whatever they’re called? How hard are the remaining topics?

My class is testing over Thermo on monday, then all that is left is electrochemistry. Our teacher seems to go very fast paced. Should be done with electrochemistry by the end of the month.

I envy those who have fast paced classes. I’m going to have to self study electro-chem, acid base, organic, nuclear, and solutions on my own. Could you guys please order the topics from most important to least.
