Official 2010 Boston College Waitlist Thread

I got waitlisted, who else? Leave stats, etc.

SAT 1430/2070
GPA 2.84
Excellent Recs
Great Essays
Good ECs

“So they’re saying there’s a chance?”

I just got waitlisted as well
looks like another 3 months of pure hell
SAT 1250/1980
GPA 3.4
Hispanic
Competitive Jesuit all boys High School (tons of the kids here go to BC)
Great Essay
Great Recs

Just remembered more info:

Hispanic
Very competitive private school, one of the top dwn here.

jmnpb-Your GPA definitely kept you out.

amm11387, I don't really know what kept you out, but it may have been that your GPA is just a tad low.

does BC use their waitlist (im asking if i still have a chance) because I know alot of schools like Georgetown - if you are on the waitlist you're basically rejected - so I'm asking is BC like that?

From my understanding, the waitlist is not to be counted on. You never know how many will be taken off of it.

Instead of waiting to see, I would just cut my losses and find another school.

WOW you would think that BC would accepted hispanic students as they are currently THE lease diverse major school in the Boston area.

It depends on the matriculation rate of accepted students this year.

The best chance of getting accepted off of the wait-list is sending in your third term grades if you did well and writing them a letter saying that you would definately attend if you got in.

Hey could you guys also post what state you're in so both we and future years can keep track of just what states recieved what by when? Thanks!

maryland but my school is in DC

yea and sending in my 2nd semester grades would almost certainly hurt me (it went from a 3.9 1st semester senior year to like a 3.4 so far 2nd semester)

do u think an alumn who donates alot of money talking to the admissions office would help or hurt

What did your letter say so that you knew you were waitlisted?

It pretty much is a bunch of stuff trying to make you feel like a competitive student and then in nice bold letters it tells you you have been wait listed...little tiny envelope

some stats:

SAT: 2000/2400
GPA: 5.00 (weighted)
Rank: 6/698
And as a matter of personal opinion..very good essays and good reccomentations

chrstinaki: YOU were waitlisted!!!

Yeah, oh well...i like Boston University better anyway:)

Hey, I totally agree w/ u there--100%. That's a load of s*** from BC, though...your stats are amazing. I hope you have better luck w/ BU!

well at least I'm not alone right

amm - you're doing better than me ;). I was rejected. I'm kinda in shock right now...it's not so much that I really really wanted to go to BC, but it was one of my "match" schools, and now I'm quite worried about the others that I applied to.

I never read my recs but both were from teachers who like me a lot and both know me fairly well I'd say.

Amherst College loved my essay (found out through football coaches) so I'm pretty sure other adcoms would like it as well.

After seeing other people get in with stats that seem lower than mine, I was just surprised by the rejection. Oh well...life goes on. :)

odan, you got rejected?

Dear Lord.

Im honestly thinking id rather be rejected than waitlisted so that I wont worry about it for another 3 months
