what were your stats piaoyuelingxing?

imricexx, did you get in BC? Where are you applying?

well, my stat is sorta complicated. i do have some special circumstances. but getting rejected by BC is out of my prediction. Anyway, i applied there only becuz they don't require extra essay, and their application is simply.

With 26,000 applications, there are few people who should consider BC a "safety school". It has not had that status for a while, as the applications keep rolling in. BC is a great place, and more and more students are recognizing that. The ones who are most excited about going might be conveying that in their essays. Most counselors are now quick to point out that BC is probably a "match" for very strong students, but not a "safety".

Waitlisted

92 GPA
2120 (didn't send in my 2200 thinking I'd get in)

but accepted at USC and NYU, and waiting for other schools.
Ah, I'm not gonna send in my waitlist card because I have my other schools. Good luck everyone else!

Ediee, which school is USC?

University of Southern California. Not to brag or anything, but I was in the top 18% of their pool this year (and they have a 27% acceptance rate vs. bc's 31% rate), so I am sort of baffled.

I'm trying to make excuses as to why I got rejected. One of them is that I applied to a major that isn't even offered in BC. I found out only a few weeks ago, yet my application raves about my intended major. Yes, I feel quite stupid. (I'll stop being bitter now.)

i got waitlisted piao -_-

sry to hear that. Anyway, we all aim to better schools than BC.

90.5 waitlisted
2220
strong ec's inc 2 president, and several clubs
strong essay
i did say that i liked peter kreeft, who is a prof there, and i heard recently that the administration does not like him too much. could be why?

You guys should both get into better colleges. :)

But that's a lot of wait-lists and no rejections. I wonder what BC's doing this year..

dont worry; BC knows that they are your backup school, so there waitlisting all of you...

trust me, its extremely common for students with really high stats to get waitlisted at schools they are using as safeties. youll prolly all get into ur top choice schools

It's not extremely common-unless you're talking about Tufts.

Please support your statement (sorry, "trust me" doesn't indicate a cut and dry solution).

One of my best friends was waitlisted today. Female, NJ, CSOM. 32 on the ACT, 2000+ on SAT. Really involved in choir (president), peer advising, NHS president, tutoring, student director of middle school plays, hospital volunteer, etc. Also ranked in top 10% of class, all honors and AP classes.

is there honestly a shot of getting in off this list? the only good thing i can think of is that my school has a good relationship with bc and none of the girls (all girls private catholic school) they accepted intend to go there, so maybe that will help me? ... oh screw it this is so annoying. its like being deferred all over again

Its funny that it seems a lot of the people who got rejected/waitlisted really wanted to go to BC and many of the people who got accepted seem to be waiting to see if they get rejected by thier first choice. I have no idea if thats just my perception or if it is reality.

Hm, I seem to have gotten waitlisted as well.
I am in a perilous situation, so I have no clue where to have expected a rejection, waitlist or acceptance.

SAT: 2190
GPA: 3.9 W, but I had 5 C's my sophomore year. I took all the hardest courses available, and I have a huge upward trend.
EC: Editor of newspaper, won many many regional, state and national journalism awards, Girls varsity tennis, avid JSA (debate)-er and publicity chair of the club as well, avid animal shelter volunteer/animal lover, etc etc etc.
Korean-American female.
Great essays, good to great recs.
Blah blah blah, sorry, don't feel like rattling myself off.

Now, the dilemma is whether I value BC enough to get myself on the waitlist and promote myself to the school.
I have 13 more schools from which I have to hear, but I really do love the Boston, Massachussetts area...

Hm, the dilemma.

People with low stats who use BC as their reach will naturally get rejected. People with high(er) stats who use BC as their safety will naturally be accepted. Makes sense doesn't it?

it does, but at the same time bc's yield rate would be really low- all of the safety kids would go elsewhere
