Official 2010 Boston College Waitlist Thread

Waitlisted.

SAT 1350 /1990
GPA 3.89
top 5% of class

thought i had good essays / reccomendations

o well :/ it was a major reach anywayss

ALL THE WAITLISTEESSS where r uguys thinking of actualy going?

haha that does seem like the case....... i sure now how thats how it is for me!!!!!! (waitlisted)

Waitlisted.

however not entirely surprising.

My SATs were certainly not my strong point. 1240/1910
My GPA is a 4.0 and at the time of application I was 2nd in my class-now 3rd.

Perhaps the only thing keeping me afloat was my essay, as it was about giving piggy-back-rides and slightly off the wall.

I just accepted my spot on the waiting list in case I don't get into another school that I want to go to. I'm just hoping I get into one of the four ivys I appied to.

Waitlisted...
670CR 560M 690WR and 3.9W GPA. Leadership ECs. Good essays.

I already got into NYU and I would go there before BC anyways. I'm not upset at all. It's not like I should have expected better with my stats.

i would have def attended there 100%.

What was ur UW JackBauerPowerHour? And what was your leadership EC's? And which school you apply to for NYU?

I got weightlisted on Friday. I didn't find out until Sunday because I was at a conference out-of-state so I was geekin out all weekend. Luckily, when I opened the letter from BC, my acceptance to NYU was right below it. :D I'm a little dissapointed that it's not an option but NYU was always ahead of BC anyhow.

4.0 GPA

[] Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: no clue
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: my theory is that boston college is accepting the most qualified applicants, seeing if they pick BC (they want to boost their standards), and if they dont get a great yield from those students some of us will get accepted

[/ul]Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:
unfortunately by june 25th even if i get in off the waitlist, i probably wont choose to attend because ill have decided elsewhere

applied EA - deferred
SATs- 2030
Rank - 29/336
GPA - 4.7/4.5 weighted 4.5/4.5 unweighted
School type/location - super competitive public in central nj

oh, btw - there's def. no tufts syndrome b/c the top 3 in my class all got in.. and they're all amazing 2400's + waay more EC's than me..

good luck to y'all!!!

Waitlisted, after being deferred EA

SATs- 2100 (710 V, 660 M, 730 W)
SAT IIs- 690 Spanish, 630 World History
GPA- 4.36W
Rank- 6/276
My classes for the past 4 years have essentially been all Honors and AP

I'm really involved in school, was born in another country and moved to the US at the age of 6, am fully bilingual and can also speak and understand Spanish and Italian (studied Spanish, lived in Italy for 2 years), am a Catholic, white female who is a Biochem major, and have excellent recommendations and essays.

I will not be staying on the waitlist. Out of the six people who applied from my school, BC accepted only one- the one with the lowest rank, lowest stats, and no challenging classes whatsoever- so I'm a bit confused!

Best of luck to everyone still waiting!

can i just say that i'm extremely BITTER?

SAT: 2110 (720 V, 750 V, 640 V)
SAT II: 770 writing, 720 lit, 700 us history, 670 bio
GPA: 4.0
EC'S: abound.... yearbook editor, jazz band, newspaper, creative writer, piano for 11 yrs, NHS CSF, etc
GENDER: female
ETHNICITY: hispanic and catholic

this just really shocked/dissapointed me since bc was a top choice....and since people with MUCH lower stats have been accepted...

i feel your pain zelda, as i too was waitlisted. Im sure you will end up at an even better school that will apreciate your hard work. good luck

are you considering UMich?

I'm not really sure where I fit in the whole college ranking thing. I don't think i'm ivy material yet I think I can get into some good schools.

SAT 1890 (I was never a really good standardized test taker)
class rank 15/422
GPA 3.94 UW
took all honors in high school and decided to take AP Calculus and AP Physics this year and getting A's in both.
NHS, NFHS, french club, volunteered at hospital for 3 years. Bunch of academic awards...

What really ****es me off is that someone else in my school who is dumber than me got in. I know his dad is an alumni. Is legacy a big factor at BC?

I'm pretty sure your SAT's held you down big time. You're SAT works out roughly to a 1260 math and verbal composite, which is a good 110 points below the average SAT for admitted students. Although your grades and courseload are good, they were obviously not enough to salvage your below average test scores for Boston College.

It really sucks that SATs are at a point now where they can ruin even the brightest high school student. I personally think they should get rid of SATs all together.

So I have been boycotting the Boston College Board until I got over the whole wait-list disappointment. I was shocked when I saw an 11 page thread for it! Just so anyone can compare...

3.9 Unweighted, 6.06 Weighted
11 APs- World History, Bio, Eng. Lang, Psychology, Us History, Art History(WORST CLASS EVER!!), Gov and Pol, Economics, Eng Lit, Calc, and French.

My best friend got into BC. I love her, but her grades and act scores are much lower...She is an amazing Sailor, however, and the sailing coach (I’m assuming) got her in. I was so happy for her, but I still think it is crap.
My stats are much lower than other of you on this board, and all I have to say is CONGRATULATIONS for all of yalls accomplishments. I won't be accepting a place on the waitlist (a tad bit of pride), it doesn't sound like I'd have much chance anyways. Had I gotten in, I would have been there in a second. I loved BC. It wasn't my safety school by any means.
I'm most likely going to Washington and Lee or William and Mary. Any thoughts on those?
