I only got a 1270 M/V SAT score and I got in. =)

ACT: 30 (Didn't take SATs)
GPA: 3.9
Rank: Wyoming highschools are too biased to give a true class rank (Instead of ranking by GPA and class difficulty, it's ranked alphabetically)

Strong essay, one great teacher rec, one mediocre teacher rec, plentiful ECs, IB program, plus my English teacher is a BC alumni

4.4 W 3.9ish UW
15/719
2250 (800V 720 M 730 W)
ECs: strongest part of my app i think
Recs: the one i read i thought was really good

It was really weird because all the other kids from my school who applied other than me heard a week and a half before me and were rejected and waitlisted. So I was kind of expecting to get in. Oh well!

okay this is really depressing..
i was told that the waitlist for BC was small
but I should have known this was a myth after 2 other girls on my soccer team were weightlisted as well
I also heard all these stories of friends and cousins of friends who got in last minute (sometimes as late as late August...eek!)
but basically, the college god hates me
does anyone know the basic percentage of people who get off the wait list?
if not, I will be attending fordham business @ rose hill, i love how its a campus (that is very similar to BC now that i think of it) and yet its so clost to the greatest city in the world (with the best connections) but BC def has a better name...whatever GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.....BC can bite me ;)

i dont know exactly how big it is, someone told me around 2000 people... i do know that my college counseler told me a lot of kids will probably be coming off this year because they were very worried about over-enrolling and took a small class. does anyone from past years or just in general, know when the first people start hearing about the waitlists?

the letter that comes with your waitlist letter says 1,500 were placed on the waitlist.

and i also heard that a lot of people will be coming off of it this year, at least more than usual, because of the over enrolling that happened last year.

SATs shouldnt ruin "bright" high school students. If you arent naturally good at them, all you have to do is work hard to prep and you will get over a 2100 if you are as smart as your grades say. What is your alternative to the SAT?

i heard absolutly nobody was coming off the waitlist. a councler said so. sorry =/ im screwed too

NOBODY coming off the wait list?! How reliable is your source? S is in, but if
no one is coming off the wait list, are we looking at another year of
over-enrollment?

Just to give you guys an idea of how far BC has come in the last few decades, a while back I graduated 180/360 from a mediocre Massachusetts high shcool. GPA was about 2.6. SATs about 1160. Went to a tiny now-defunct junior college. Got a 3.3 first semester, applied to BC, and got accepted. Graduated 3 yrs. later cum laude. At that time, the minimum transfer gpa was 2.5. You guys were born too late.

It seems like we were born too late for all the good schools. It's incredible how competitive colleges have gotten, just in the past 10-20 years. My dad got into Notre Dame 20 years ago with stats wayyy lower than mine at a much worse high school. And I've worked my ass off these past 3 years (I'm a junior) and I probably won't get in at Boston College or Notre Dame. I can't imagine how cutthroat it will be in the next decades...

She said that they had alot of deposits coming in on Friday, but said she wasn't sure what was going to happen during the rest of this week. She didn't sound like they expected to take many off the waitlist though, if any. The important thing she said was that they would know if they were going to the waitlist by the third week in March. Hope some of this information helps.

my dad called BC today and the counselor he talked to said they do not think they are taking ANYONE from the wait list, which doesn't really make sense to me since like someone said, they are so afraid of overbooking. Could it be just something they tell people so they don't get their hopes up and pass up opportunities for other schools because they are waiting to hear from BC?

could very well be...they lied to us about when they were going to release decisions back in april!

goodluck!

thats great that you got in
but, no offense, how did others get waitlisted with higher SAT scores than you?
you must have had some edge like a sport or something?
or you just got the luck of the draw (congrats btw)

wait so .. theyre not accepting anyone off the waitlist?!

I heard completely differently than most people on here. I heard that they wanted to increase their yield so it looks better rankings wise so the underadmitted. From a very reliable source, hopefully it isn't wishful thinking.

notsurefor2006, that would be great news. would you consider this "source" to be in the loop with BC admissions>?

Although the card says "by June 15th," I would expect to hear soon since most of the other surrounding colleges seem to have done it within the past week. I also heard, however, that since they overenrolled last year, they cut-down the number of admitted students and expect to use the waitlist this year.

rye890, i do consider him very reliable. I expect a trickle down effect. When the Ivies start letting people in, some are going to bolt from BC, I'm praying for that call/letter.
