Bklyn2 -- fyi -- for the last couple of years, brandeis has admitted a mid-year class that enters in january. they have their own orientation and at least in past years, have been housed together when they arrive in jan.

im upset...i dont want to start in January....they r basically putting me in an uncomfortable position. Im probably not attending then since this is ridiculous in my opinion. What a shame!

bklyn2 - i can understand your disappointment, but if brandeis would otherwise be a top choice for you, i would encourage you to look in to it more. they have message board forums at brandeis where you may be able to talk to current students who were midyears. it provides you with an oppurtunity to do whatever you want during the fall - some people take real advantage of that, secure in knowing where they will be in january.
the midyear class basically allows them to admit more students -- since enough students study overseas in the spring to free up space for additional students to come on board. i think i've heard of other schools doing this as well.
good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I got into midyear as well. And frankly, I'm quite dissapointed. My parents are connected to Brandeis - do you think there's a way I can get it changed if I express my desire to attend Brandeis if, and only if, I'm admitted in the fall?

descant, ur question was asked and answered...i called the admissions office today and they said absolutely not. We cant change a thing :( I honestly think its remarkable that we are 2 out of 90-100 ppl selected as midyears and we are together here on CC (they apparently have message boards specifically for midyears on the Brandeis website)

seems like they are sending out scholarships first, thats what a few other schools are doing i'm not sure why. i havn't gotten mine yet either (recovering defferie ED1). it's likely i'll get rejected too since im not a minority and didnt get 2400's on my sats. Poo. Maybe they are sending rejections last like NYU did. We'll find out soon!

Hey guys just a thought but for any mid-year admits your financial aid package might have been low because you're only paying for one semester. Look through your package better - they probably give the tuition for only one semester. You might have gotten mid-year because your EFC is too low and they want to save money, as they aren't "need-blind".
