dude, northwestern offered a 34k stipend. that’s a lot of money…is anyone going to base their final decision based on financial offers?

Financial offers will determine a small, but not nonexistent, portion of my decision.

You got a 34k stipend? How? I also got into NU PhD and I only got 26.2 k…

Speaking of, tigershark you heard back from MIT MSE already??

Additional funds come from some sort of fellowship for Northwestern.

I haven’t heard specifically from MSE at MIT. I applied to 2 departments there and have an interview offer at one. Apparently MSE visiting weekend is at the end of February. I’m so nervous from the wait.

rising sun! did you work in ceder’s group this past summer? If so I think we’ve met at the CMSE REU poster session. you go to northwestern right judging by your past comments.

Yeah!!! Haha, small world. Were you the one in the Belcher group working on virus batteries? From Berkeley?

LoL I only applied to two schools… MIT and Northwestern … yeaahhh… Probably should have applied to some schools in california. Forgot to consider the idea of nice weather…

I’m also fairly concerned about MIT. I have a pretty sweet application, but my GPA isn’t the hottest, and there’s not much you can get across in 500 words … it’s all kind of in the hands of your recommenders.

lol yea. i’ll see you at northwestern then for visiting weekend. i think i’ll be there for the first one.

I wish I could go back and edit my original post so I wouldn’t have to keep making separate posts.

Anyway, got into MIT today. :)

Denied by UC Berkeley for Industrial Engineering

Got admitted at Northwestern, Civil Engineering.

Got official acceptance from Stanford today, including 3 year SGF Fellowship. :)

@lizzardfire

Which offer are you going to accept?

I’m going to visit the schools that have accepted me before making a decision. I do have some inclinations, but I’d rather not reveal them until I’m sure about my choice.

Has anyone heard back for MAE from UT austin? I turned this app in first, so I kind of thought I would have heard back by now. Post when you do! I just want to stop feeling nervous about it!

Applying to UTAustin Environmental and Water Engineering (In-State, the only school I can afford!) :D

Has anyone heard from this program? My GPA is on the low end for posters this forum, and I’m lacking significant research in this field, but I meet the bulk of the requirements listed on the website. Please let me know what you think.
