You know the only people that can answer that question are the people on the admission committee, and I think the official answer to that is NO. But. Transfer admission is so intense and competitive that something on that scale would be useful in other to distinguish yourself. Another thing is the kinds of courses you’ve taken. The more difficult the better, especially in Math and physics because the MIT GIRS requires that every student take them. IMO it is pretty difficult, especially for international students. I think they only took 6 international students last year. I am not sure though.

I really want to take Math and science courses… but they are not available in my current college… so I took L&A courses a lot … .I am a rising sophomore… so I only sent transcript for only one semester …and … I am an international student… what is IMO???.. … I am going to have a really big exam tomorrow…but I CANNOT focus…:(

IMO= In my opinion. However it could also mean International Math Olympiad used in another contest.
Have you completed calculus at least? The MIT transfer website strongly suggested that, so I can only assume that it is one of the strong factors they consider.

I am just reviewing ROI…

yeap… I got an A for calculus… cuz I am from China… so the math I learned back in High school was much more difficult than here… but because AP is not available…so I could not have AP grade… … … … I am soooo anxious now…

Cool. So what math classes have you completed? I am really anxious too, but also at peace with myself. I gave it my best shot. Whatever outcome it is, I would would accept and just move on from there. What major did you apply for?

, Only Calculus in College… and I am having Statistic right now… In China, we learned a lot… but we don’t really divided them within Math…We learned calculus, statistics, linear regression, geometry, linear algebra,Analytic Geometry …etc… I applied for Finance…

I did not think I can get in …so that I was pretty chill about this until this week… when the people around me keep on asking me about the decision… … which makes me really anxious… …

Are you are rising sophomore as well ? What major did you apply?

NO. Junior. I applied for course 16. Aero/Astro. I didn’t tell a lot of people that I applied to MIT, so I don’t have people asking me what the decision is. Just try to let them know what the odds are. It makes a lot of sense that you’ve only taken calculus so far. Don’t be anxious. These things will pass. ;p

Thank you and Wish you good luck too !! haha… I told them because MIT is the only school I applied… I think it is better for me to go to bed right now… But I doubt if I can fall asleep … . … Are you sure they will give out the decision before 12th? Because that is the last day for ADD/DROP for the summer course in my college… if I get in… I will just take some courses which can transfer credits…

ychen, I agree.

High school math in china = cao ge college math in the US.

Good luck!

haha… Are you a Chinese student too?! I am really willing to take math class here because it can upper my GPA…

my parents are chinese, so I learned the phrase from them :)

MIT has a large representation of Asian students though. Hopefully you can get in!

…Haha… Thank you.! … I nearly type in Chinese to reply!

Good luck to everyone! i am so anxious that i cant even concentrate! its already may 5!! and each day goes by slower i just want to hear something like we will notify u by may 7 or whatever. even if its a rejection but i just can’t stand the suspense !!

Can we just call MIT…

Well I did call and all I could extract from them was that decisions will be emailed in early may, and that is ofcourse what we know already.

OMG… How efficient and confidential of MIT admission… … It is already. EARLY MAY… … … … … I think it is the student assistants working there answer the phone and email… they don’t know what their bosses doing …

Hi,
I was just anxious about what is the combination of juniour + sophomore that the MIT takes as transfer ??

Decision is out!

OMG.。 do you get in? I haven’t got it yet!

Rejected!
Haha I knew that…Good Luck Others!
