<p>@ parentheticalgir, your sense of entitlement is disturbing. Colleges typically do not recruit for the overall best students. Instead, they want students who are balanced academically and who would fit the mold of their college. Think about it this way, why do sports teams not go after all the best players? It’s because some of those players do not match the culture/chemistry of the team. The same can be applied to colleges. I would bet most students who applied to BC had an overwhelming number of extracurricular activities weighted towards community service. The same holds true for a school like Notre Dame, where about 90% of students who were accepted played some type of varsity sport in high school.</p>
