Alot of folks with higher GPA’s and SAT’s from my school…Have not heard yet on many
of them…But did hear about a kid that Got in with 3.3, and about same SAT as me…and
heard lots of horror stories about some getting in with little, and others not getting in with
lots…Seems pretty crazy to me…

Seems like “Someone” could find out how they “Really do it”…LOL…Any smart IB Hackers on the Board…lol

D was denied. I think OOS caucasian females didn’t fare so well? She has already been accepted to higher ranked schools that she really likes (I know, I know, rank isn’t everything!), so she wasn’t too broken up about it. I imagine she will get accepted to University of California’s that OOS kids with better stats won’t.

Reflection and General Comments: I committed and paid deposit! ITS GREAT TO BE A FLORIDA GATOR

Re. IR2010. Well, he is also in the top 10% of his class! UF must be fair to schools all across Florida and allow some students from each in. My daughter’s class has 1000 students in it, she has a UF 4.5 and is ranked in the top 25% right now, ugh!! I recently spoke to someone who is a guidance counselor in a large shool in Miami. Her Valedvictorian had give or take a 1000 score on the SAT. She had a great GPA and activities. She had to work a FULL time job to support her family!! She is at UF now. You need to look at the whole picture. My daughter will probably not get in. Most of the kids in her school, including her, can study endlessly, take online courses to boost their GPA’s, hire tutors and engage in many extrac. because they do not have to work to support their families.

The adcoms wanted to change things up. I think they wanted some kids with good scores [yes, a 27 is a good score], decent GPA, and a multi-faceted experience with extra-currics. I see some excellent scores did get turned down, and I find myself extremely fortunate for this amazing opportunity. Best of luck to all you other prospective Gators x [:
