I know it’s probably not 1st choice on your list, but University of Delaware is a damn good school for Chem E. They have tons of connections since DE and the surrounding area has always been a hub for the chemical industry. Plenty of their grads find decent jobs when they get out.

Did any hear back from those? Did anyone else apply for aerospace engineering?

With verbal 230 and writing 2.5 (both below the 3rd percentile), almost all American schools would judge that your English proficiency is too low for graduate study in this country. You need verbal greater than 400 and writing greater than 3.5 for serious consideration. I suggest studying English heavily, retaking the GRE, and reapplying.

Of course, you could be ■■■■■■■■, since you seem to be able to form English sentences just fine. In that case, please find better things to do with your free time.

For international students, the verbal and writing should be irrelevant, but you must meet some minimum TOEFL score. Unlike GRE scores, the TOEFL scores are much stricter, i.e. there is very little room for leniency if there is any at all.

I’ve never seen any department state that or apply it in practice. In technical subjects, no one cares once you get past say 500V or 3.5AW (except maybe for handing out fellowships) but at 1st (230V) and 3rd (2.5AW) percentile, those scores will NOT be ignored regardless of TOEFL. It’s not a substitute. Let me give you an example (this was written by someone who’s sat on admissions committees at MIT EECS, Berkeley EECS, and CMU CS):

By the way, it would be useful if people could also name their funding offer from their accepted schools. It doesn’t have to be the amount, just fellowship vs. RA vs. TA vs. unfunded.

I’ll update. My profile is back on the first page.

I’ve received funding for all places I was accepted. Most of them sounded like an RA type of deal, but I should really read the fine print on those things…

^^^ Wow…you got into really good schools with funding…congratulations Dauntless9. However, I saw that your GPA is a 3.53, which is low compared to other applicants. This tells me that I have a great chance in getting into all the great schools that I will be applying to next year ( I have a 3.92 GPA and little bit better stats than you and just a junior!!)
