Official 2011 Intel STS Thread!

Deadline is in three days, and I'm pretty excited to see how this turns out. What did you guys all do for your projects?

Hi! Did you submit yours yet? I’m going crazy trying to locate some missing paperwork.

No, I haven’t. What are you trying to find?

Bumping this because I’m submitting today. Do you think that if one got Siemens semifinalist, they can expect a reasonable chance for being named a semifinalist in intel sts?

Oops, I think the name of this should be 2012, not 2011. Would any mod mind changing this? And yeah, I think so, dblazer.

@dblazer - Yes, I definitely think so. Did you get Siemens semifinalist?

@ batteries - I have a biology project, so the IRB letters. But it all worked out and I submitted it on Tuesday night.

I improved my Siemens paper a lot for Intel, so I think I have a good chance. The results don’t come out for a while though!

yeah, I happened to. Did research on breast cancer.

Very nice. Congrats!

Helloooo everyone! I also entered. Any ISEF’ers here? @waitingforivy, I agree that the wait is so long, and I really don’t want to do college apps to pass the time either. :-/

guys… what would happen if i didn’t use times new roman font?
i used calibri =/

Hmm…i forgot if it specified. Either way, that should not be make or break at all.

It didn’t specify. I’m pretty sure of that. As long as it was size 11 font or larger, you’re fine.

How long was your research paper?

Mine was 18 pages, and then all the other stuff

@pencilsandpens94, I remember it just specified font size, so Calibri’s probably fine. Don’t worry about it!

@waitingforivy, mine was 18 pages as well.

alright whew thank gosh
including title page, bibliography and all mine was 21 i believe

Im doing intel sts next summer. I already spent last summer getting acquainted with my lab and my topic. can any of you provide useful links for intel sts?

Umm, google it and look through all the links, guidelines, requirements to get an idea of what you’re getting yourself into and make sure your project is allowed

@physicsboy32 it’s great that you’ve been able to find a lab to work in. You’ll have a lot to go over in your research report. What kind of links were you looking for?

@physicsboy32, the STS website will tell you everything you need. If there are any teachers who have experience with students who have entered STS previously, it’ll help to talk to them too, and perhaps ask them to read over your paper. But apart from that, there isn’t really much else you need to do apart from keeping good notes and working hard on your research. Good luck! :)

=P k thanks

I’m doing the ISEF, but my project is not nearly impressive enough to enter STS :P
