So, I took the AP test this year and thought the MC was pretty hard. How should we prep for this Subject test. I'm going for a 800. Any thoughts?

Lower your sights.

…just kidding its good to be ambitious. For APUSH I used direct hits, and I found the MC on the AP relatively easy (and predictable). You can buy direct hits for SATII on amazon.

by the way, no one is paying me to say this.

I would suggest using Direct Hits as the user above. For more in depth, use Amsco. Good luck (:

lol, wow I thought that the essays were easy, but the MC was so strange. There was like no Andrew Jackson and they asked weird stuff. Is an 800 manageable?

What does it mean to omit questions on the subject test? Could we do that on the AP test as well?

I thought AP was pretty easy. I also want an 800 or 770+… got 780 on world last year… Took three sparknotes quizzes every week except the last two (one a week) and have gone from 640 to 700 to 730 so it’s not impossible… I dont think it’s worth it to buy the DH at this point. I’ve bought enough review books and I wouldnt read all of it anyway…

On the AP test it would not be benificial because there is no longer a .25 guessing penalty, but on SAT II there still is, so it would be advisiable.

^There was no guessing penalty on the APUSH or any other AP exam this year - yea! But, unfortunately there is still a guessing penalty on the SAT II tests. I don’t know why. So if you just don’t know the answer omit the question. I agree with GreedIsGood and NemoStudent. US History in a Flash totally slayed the APUSH exam and the SAT II test.

Is DH enough for an 800 or does one need AMSCO. Does DH cover everything on the test?

DH is way more concise than Amsco for sure. If you have the time/will to read a 200-something page book, it will definitely help… of course it wont get someone from a 500 starting point to an 800, but if you know your basic stuff already, it will definitely help.

^ I disagree there. I think DH would get you from a 500 to an 800. Just read it all the way through at least once, and you’re set. Twice if possible. It destroyed APUSH, and in my opinion SAT II looks easier than AP.

Okay, greatt. I think I got a 5 on Apush so I think I can pull a 800 on the SAT II. Thanks for the advice guys.

Hey does anyone know about the curve for this test?

Can someone answer my question please:)

lol, no one cares about U.S. History.

I think it is somewhere around -7 to -10 raw score points. (i.e. omitting 7-10)

Wow, so we can miss 10 and get an 800? Awesomee!

Well, missing ten is actually 95 - 10 - 10 / 4 = 82.5 = 83
So missing 10 is actually - 12

O there is a formula, my bad. Is this test generally difficult to get an 800 on?

Bump
