*Official* 2011 transfer chance!

I hope the 3.999 gpa/amazing EC’s comment was directed at me! Basically would give me my chancing…

And I’m MORE than aware this is silly, but what’s the harm? Plus its interesting to see other peoples gpas, ecs, intended majors and all that

i mentioned this in one of the previous pages. yeah - there are a lack of chancers, and a bunch of chancees. but. take it easy, guys - i know we’re all freaking out and everything (and that’s an understatement), but just take this thread as pretty much a way to see where YOU stand in GPAs and major.

i would suggest everyone use teh Search/Find option to see how other people with your major stand. it’s the best way to see how you’re doing. there is no sure-fire way to find out if you’re in/out because no one KNOWS. but, as you get more familiar with CC - you’ll figure out a VAGUE, VAGUE idea of things.

well…i want to give some comments, but haven’t seen any engineering majorers.

I’m with passwordis…

@passwordis123,

I’m an engineering major-er, hehe

Yeah, any English majors need chancing? send me a pm
But everyother major, I’m not too familar with.

UC Berkeley
3.6
American Studies
2/3 pre-reqs done, 1 IP (probably getting an A so 4.0 in pre-reqs)
IGETC done this semester, 63 UC units spring 2011
working on my application now.

There’s hardly any sociology majors posting their stats on here!

Current School: Foothill-DeAnza
Major: Sociology @ UCLA, Peace and Conflicts @ Berkeley (I intend to double major with Sociology once I’m in)
GPA: 3.64, hopefully a bit higher after Fall
IGETC: Complete
Pre-Reqs: Complete, but I have one left with UCLA. Will complete by spring. I KNOW.
E.C’s: Cross-Cultural Partners, working two part-time jobs, hip-hop dance workshops, PTK, Dean’s List, Honors Program, ~70+ hours of community service, American Sociological Association, and a whole bunch of stuff from high school that is related to my major.
TAP: Thank God
Honors: 7 honors courses completed by spring
Essays: It was proofread by a Berkeley Admissions Officer, a graduating senior at Cal who is majoring in sociology, and an admissions officer for Stanford’s Business School. I put a lot of work and thought into these and my readers could tell.

My dream school has been Cal since I was in the 7th grade. I will SIR right away…

Anyways, if you’re a sociology major I’d love to see your stats ;]
And best luck to everyone else! You guys are all UCLA/Berkeley material.

Hello Everyone!
Applied to: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB

Intended majors: Communication studies (UCLA, UCSD, & UCSB) and Media studies (UCB)

Currently attending a CSU

GPA: As of right now, my gpa is a 3.4; hopefully it will increase after I recieve my grades next month. By the end of this spring semester, I will have over 60 transferrable units.

Awards & Activites-
High School:
was on a nationally acclaimed speech & debate team, Head of publicity for the Invisible Children club, Girl’s water polo team, volunteer at the local police department, Hope Connections, and over 100 hrs of community service
College:
Speech & Debate team (three gold metals), internship at a local political grassroots organization, and Dean’s list both semesters last year

Hooks: Raised by a single mother and first generation American

Essay: Not a typical personal statement; it’s creative and unique, but I’m not sure that’s what they want. It had lots of mixed reviews.

To my understanding, it is extremely difficult for a CSU student to transfer to a UC. In fact, CSU students get last priority. My gpa isn’t outstanding, but it is above the required 3.0. CAL has been my dream school for a looooonnngg time and I thought I should give it a shot. What are my chances?

@sugarnova Briefly glanced over your app. You have no chance for UCLA and Cal. Also hs achievements won’t matter at all. You coming from a CSU is even worse!

Applying to UCB, UCSC
Major: Anthropology
Current School: Moorpark Community College
GPA: 3.4
IGETC: certified by Spring '11
Pre-reqs: Done by Spring '11. English and Math already completed.
TAG: UCSC, UCSB, UCR, UCSD but I decided to only do UCSC since that was my first choice. My boyfriend forced me to add UCB and paid the fee for me.
EC: Been on the Dean’s List 3 semesters, no D’s and no F’s, only 2 C’s. I have 4 counts of Community Service to the school on my transcript. I have been working as a Nanny for a disabled child for about a year. I have field experience for my major (emphasis in archaeology)

Hey guys! I’m actually asking this question for a friend of mine:
Do you guys know if anyone with a 2.96 Cumulative GPA can get into UCSD with a Sociology major? She has finished her pre-requisites and all that good stuff if it even matters at this point. thanks!

Chance me for UCB:
Major: American Studies
UC Cumulative GPA: 3.53
Major GPA: 4.0 & all pre-reqs completed
IGETC already finished
EC: honors program, ptk, 100+ hours of community service, 2 jobs.
The 2 B’s and 2 C’s dropped my GPA. C’s in geo and statistics.
Essays: ? Good, I believe.

Thank you in advance for your time and analysis!

@Investment: Thank you for your brutal honesty-that’s to be expected, especially with my current gpa and school. Nevertheless, I hope you’re wrong.

Any comment will be appreciated :)

Chance me guys.

GPA. 3.87
Intended Major: Communications
Applied: UCB,UCLA

lots of ecs…from academic to sports.
work experience.
I’d say my essay is a 9/9.5 out of 10.

Wish everyone here the best of luck.

Oh also transferring from CCC.

I have applied for UCI Psychology. Transferring from a ccc with a 4.0 GPA. Very unusual circumstances though. Attended 3 years of a 5 year university abroad. Have been getting FS there to hold my spot in case I dont get accepted. Even with the Fs (if they are transferable, which they are probably not) my gpa would be over 3.5. My personal statement has been reviewed and it looks good. It explains why I chose to do this and it emphasizes that I did what I did to guarantee I will have a chance at a bachelors degree one way or another. Have a few ECs and work full time with a special needs child as a caregiver.
Pre req done, igetc will be verified by the end of spring.
Can anyone help?

Chance me =)
