*Official* 2011 transfer chance!

Id say UCLA is your best chance Pino, the only reason I say that is because of the missing prereq at Cal…still a good shot at Cal but no gurantee. Davis is a gimmie.

Might as well list my subpar stats:

GPA: 3.2 (Upward trend…all A’s last 3 semesters)
Major: Anthropology (4.0 gpa in major with all prereqs done)
Colleges: UCSD,UCI,UCD,UCR
TAG:UCD,UCR
Probably TAG: UCSD
IGETC:done

@lbc123, it is just physical anthropology that I have to do this spring semester. I tried doing it last semester but I could not get into any section as i was on the waiting lists for all sections.

Alright, I want to try this chance thing.

I spent my freshman year at CC, sophomore at UCD, and now my junior year of college again at CC.

Applying to UCSB
GPA:3.95
Major: Economics & Accounting
Prereqs: All but 1
Moderate ECs
No IGETC–most GEs done
decent personal statement

my problem is I am technically a senior transfer (96 semester units)

Coiler, I would say you have a good chance.
Founder and President of the Economics Club = best possible ec you could have. So cool!
plus your numbers look fine and you are coming from a good school.

UCSB with 96 units? Unless there’s a backdoor I’m unaware of, you’re an instant reject.

[quote]

UCSB’s College of Letters & Science does not admit students with 135 quarter (90 semester) units or more (students with senior class standing).
/quote

The problem is that SB, SC, and SD add all units together, even though you probably haven’t completed any upper-division coursework. I believe you should be okay at Irvine, which doesn’t have this policy, and you’d have a shot at Berkeley, UCLA, Davis, and Riverside, which either allow for students with excess units to be reviewed, or which have different policies for students who have most recently attended a community college.

Is it too late to add campus choices? Admission decisions are coming up.

Chance a Communications major!

Applying to: UCB, UCLA, UCSD (possible TAG), and UCSB (possible TAG)
Cumulative GPA: 3.71
Transferable UC GPA: 3.83
Degrees: AA in Social Science and French
IGETC: complete
Pre-reqs: complete
6.5-7/10 personal statement (very eh IMO, I’m hoping my EC’s and GPA make up for it)
EC’s: National Honor Society president in high school, Executive Officer position in student gov’t, intern for gubernatorial candidate, intern for city newspaper, paid position as college ambassador/orientation leader, editor-in-chief of newspaper, marathon runner

I pretty know I’m going to get rejected from LA’s Comms program, but do I have a shot for any of the others? I’m also applying to USC, so if I don’t get into LA, I’ll just become a Trojan ;)

@Matttt: I am never one to bash people on this site but c’mon! You only applied to one school and that school does not even consider senior tranfers? It seems like you did not even spend 10 minutes reserching this info and you were totally clueless. It takes 3-5 minutes to look up which UC’s accept senior transfers and/or take the initiative to call the schools and find out. If I was one, the FIRST thing I would do is figure out which schools would actually even consider accepting me!

Quite honestly, with that kind of irresponsibility, you don’t deserve to get into a UC.

Um, thanks for the kind words bro.

Just so you know, the UC system isn’t the only place in the world you can apply.

and in response to your remarks, SB was the only UC campus I had interest in at the time so I thought, why not? might as well see what happens and get a refund if it doesn’t work.

I don’t usually bash people, but don’t make rediculous assumptions about situations you don’t know about. It’s rude and doesn’t help anyone.

Regardless, you applied to a school with a ZERO percent chance of being accepted. That, to me, is just plain stupid. Good luck with your other applications…

Theres no need to be hypercritical. I just asked a question.

and thanks, if you were serious.

So I have a 3.4 GPA and recently applied to the following schools UCI, UCLA, UCB, and UCSD. For UCI, I applied as a Poli Sci Major and for the other schools I applied as an Anthro major. My dream school is LA, what are my chances?

@Matttt do you have AP units? I think the UC will allow you to omit those.

@iwishtogotoucla, depends, which prereqs have you completed and what’s your GPA within the major? Assuming all prereqs and about a 3.4 major GPA too, I’d say your chances for Berkeley are slim, LA, 50/50, UCI and UCSD pretty likely.

@lbc123: in at UCI, UCR and UCD, good prospects for UCSD though not definite.

@Hadrian I’ve completed 2/3 of the pre reqs, I’m currently enrolled in my third one. Within the major so far I have a 4.0

and has anyone heard anything back from any UC’s? I know a few high school students who found out earlier this week whether or not they got accepted…any news on transfer students?

I’d say 75/25 in your favor, then. Freshmen are notified about a month before transfers, generally. Last year the first decisions released were from UCSC on the 15th of March, the last came from Berkeley on 4/30 (UCLA was a week earlier) and the rest sporadically in that gap. So don’t expect anything until mid-March.

Business Econ: UCLA
Econ and Accounting: UCSB
Business Admin (Preferred): Cal, UCI, Cal Poly, UCR, and Santa Clara
Management: Merced
Cumulative GPA
Private School (1 Year): 3.64
Junior College (2 Years): 3.97
Transferable UC GPA: 3.78
IGETC: complete by end of spring quarter
Pre-reqs: Only 1 quarter of Calculus and only 2 years of high school spanish for Cal
Essay: Solid for both UC schools and Haas
EC: Not spectacular but imo adequate.

Hi All,
please chance me for UCLA…

GPA: 3.5-3.6
Major: American Lit & Culture
IGETC? Done.
TAP CERTIFIED? Yes.
Pre-reqs: Only 2 Complete. Missing: English 10 series not offered at CCC, and completed 1st half of language requirement through IGETC, so will take Literature in translation courses at UCLA if admitted. I’m taking 2 literature classes right now, not equivalents, but similar.

Will those missing pre-reqs hurt me? That’s my main concern. They weren’t at my CCC so I tried to take similar courses…

However, this major isn’t extremely competitive (31/51 applicants admitted last year).

Please let me know what you all think…

Now510, how many cumulative credits do you have between your CC and private school?

pyoro, the UCs won’t hold it against you if your CC didn’t offer the prereqs. I’d say you’re probably in. Last year, UCLA accepted me into a major for which I hadn’t completed any prereqs. ;)

UC Transferable:
Private School: 18 semester units
JC: 53 Quarter Units Completed, 13.5 In Progress, 14/18 Planned
