In at all the UCs except probably UCB, I don’t know about Poly or Santa Clara. Haas is just way too selective (~6% acceptance rate?) for anybody with less than a perfect GPA and prereqs to realistically stand a good chance. Sorry. :(

^can you tell us what major you got into without finishing pre-reqs?

Classical studies, my CC didn’t offer any of the prereqs.

The only thing that I am worried about is that this past semester I got all A’s except one C in a engineering statics course thats not even accredited at UCB. What are my chances?

@ GWR: You’re in at Berkeley. If the class you got a C in doesn’t even articulate as an accredited course at Cal, it won’t affect your chances. Being a major swim athlete seriously helps too.

@ucla bound what are your grade trends from your first semester at a CCC to your last semester? Done with your pre-reqs?

From: California community college

GPA: 3.94 after Fall 2010 / Got a B in Winter '11… not sure if that matters.

Essay:
-8/10 in my opinion…

What are my chances at:
-UCLA (communication studies), Completed 5/7 pre-reqs (the other 2 aren’t offered at my school). I took Statistics (pre-req) this Winter 2011 and I got a B (will this grade be taken into account?).

-Berkeley (rhetoric), will my Winter '11 B in Stats be considered in my GPA when they review my application? I updated my transfer application again today.

Thank you!

@regent57 you should be in for ucla u have a really high chance.your gpa is high therefore TAP will boost your chances a lot.

@jp91 i would be shocked if u didn’t get in as a communications major for ucla. that B shouldn’t screw u up they only calculate ur gpa til fall and even if they did count winter i honestly don’t think that one B would ruin your chances. the gpa they want for communication majors is what you have even with the B.

as for berkeley i really don’t know anything about the school and their transfer decisions. :(

All right I’ll bite for the hell of it. I know you guys are all anxious for decisions and any chance relieves the slightest anxiety, so I’ll chance some people.

@ regent57: In everywhere easily (except Cal…that is a slight reach for you). On the whole, I would say you’re totally 50/50 for Berkeley (mostly due to your GPA)…what is ur major and prereq GPA?

@ UCLABOUND: You’re a reach for UCLA. The average GPA admitted is a 3.73 (and that’s last year; it goes up about .02 or so each year for popular majors). If you have a good major and prereq GPA, that would help.

@ Pinoiako916: Sorry my inbox was full; it’s free now :). Btw you’re in at all of them.

@ jp: In at Berkeley, slight reach for UCLA…merely because it’s Communications and it’s crazy competitive. The fact that the B was most recent isn’t great, but it isn’t going to sink you necessarily. You’re in at Cal…50/50 for UCLA.

Fall 2007 - 3.50
Spring 2008 - 3.50
Fall 2008 - 4.00
Spring 2009 - 4.00
Summer 2009- 4.00
Fall 2009- 4.00
Spring 2010 - 4.00
Fall 2010 - 4.00

@emilsinclair9 My grade trends

@ Pino:…I know; that’s why you’re obviously in at all of them lol.

@emilsinclair9 Thanks My Berkeley major (for admittance) is Peace and Conflicts and I got As in the two prereqs. My GPA is 3.68, but I’m hoping they take into consideration that three courses in which I received low Bs in were from high school. Since I’ve started community college I’ve had mostly As and Bs to all As and a few A-s. About 100 quarter units.

Applied to: Cal, UCLA, UCSD, UCD

4.0 transferable GPA

-Honors Program (due to applying to the program late, I will only have taken 4 honors classes)
