<p>Can some one help?
Hello, i am an international student and I am interested in transferring to
UCSD in Computer Science this year. I might get a “C” in PHYS 4A.
Would it be better for me to drop the class and be behind a major class or better for me to get the “C”.
is Physic 4A and 4B required at UCSD? If I drop this quarter I can take Physics 4A next quarter but I will not able to finish Physic4B by the end of spring before transfer.
Also I received a B- in English 1B and was concerned because I am an international student and wasn’t sure if that would also affect my admission entrance.
Any advice on these matters would be greatly appreciated.
my overall gpa is 3.5
Thank you~</p>

<p>^ April 29!</p>

<p>Hiiiiii guys
can you guys kindly chance me? I will be soooooo grateful
I can chance you back if you want too =P</p>

<p>I am an int’l student studying in a CCC in bay area and I am applying to :
Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, Davis, and USC…
Applying to Peace and Conflict Studies for Cal and Political Science for the rest.</p>

<p>Cumulative GPA: 3.79
I had a W on my first quarter in CCC because I wasn’t really adapted into the environment here
My will finish all IGETC requirements by next quarter with all A+,A or A-
TAG with UC Davis
My toefl iBT is 106/120
no SATs / ACT available :(</p>

<p>ECA: define strong ? I hope I am not too weak
I was the president of the class in my high school back in my home country
I got an internship at a major Airlines
I worked as a teaching assistant for the president of Political Science department at my school
I am a college supplementary instructor who teaches political science in a small class…
co-founder of a school club - it helps students to succeed in community colleges
i joined voluntary projects to serve the LGBT population in my home country during the summer and I was a voluntary teacher in local primary schools to teach underprivileged kids English
I ran for the election of student senate at my CCC (didnt won though)
I have two strong recommendation letters (UC doesn’t require them anyway)</p>

<p>As for Personal Statement:
Prompt #1: It was about my major selections (basically why I wanna study PACS) and my experience in running the election for student senate, and finally how my study in USA has impacted me (600 words)
Prompt #2: Its about a childhood nightmare that my parents divorced and how my mom and I were in lack of support from our family and how my classmates teased me back in my home country…then I related it back to my brand new life here in USA…blah blah blah and how I want to change my home country after studying PACS…(400 words)
—I made a very minor grammatical mistake and it literally gives me nightmares…</p>

<p>my goal is getting into Cal, is it really an impossible reach?
is my GPA too low? and does my international student status kill me off?
i am even preparing my appeal letters already lol</p>

<p>one final question:
If only UCSD and Davis take me…would it be really stupid to stand UCSD up and go to UC Davis? because UCSD has a rather strong poli sci department … yet I really dislike that place and I prefer staying in Nor Cal…
your kindly help will make a difference! :D</p>

<p>Applied to: UCI
Major: Urban Studies
GPA:3.00
Transfer student from a CCC
Extra Curriculars: Volunteered at UCLA med center, worked at a frozen yogurt shop, then at my school’s bookstore, AGS (honor society) member in my community college. went to community college and high school concurrently, so I included the environmental recycling program I created at my school, I was a member of the belly dance club, the environmental club (they were pretty useless, hence the program I made).
Age:18
First Generation student
completed all the recommended courses because there were no required courses at all.
No TAG, unfortunately :(</p>

<p>Thanks guys!!! <3</p>

<p>Can I get Chanced: </p>

<p>My history is complicated.
Went to community college straight from high school, didnt care very much about grades, 6 W’s, maybe 5 F’s. Stopped going. Three years pass. I go back, started again last spring. Started taking full time school with full time work (currently in my last semester at 20 units with 50 hour work weeks), I retake all the courses with F’s and Get A’s in them and now have a 3.83 GPA.</p>

<p>Applied as a Philosophy Major to UCLA and UCI.
My CC didn’t offer many of the pre-req courses for the major to UCLA, so I only took the single one that I could. Not much EC (put discussed my crazy work schedule in my essay). </p>

<p>What do you guys think?</p>

<p>Applied to: Cal, UCLA, UCD, UCSD, UCI, UCSB
Major: Classics/ Classical Civilization
Gpa: 3.1(chabot), 2.8(Foothill: but retaking the one course I didn’t do to good in, right now, and am getting a A in it, so that will change the gpa)</p>

<p>EC’s: Volunteer work at local Animal Shelter, PETA rallies, protests, and volunteer work, AYUSA Mentor Program at Cal, Library Summer Reading Program</p>

<p>IGETC completed
Pre Reqs completed</p>

<p>My brother had died on September 4, 2010; which I explained to the UC’s to justify my difficulties int the fall semester.</p>

<p>I am a one year transfer</p>

<p>Chabot: 39 semester units
Foothill: 42 quarter units</p>

<p>@jashneel, did you already had a separate chance post you made earlier? I said in that post that if you stay for an extra year at a community college, and get all A’s in your classes, you would have a 30-35 percent chance for Berkeley and UCLA.</p>

<p>ideal: UC’s take into consideration grade trends, and also when students return to school when their previous grades weren’t satisfactory. I wouldn’t worry too much about those F’s from years back since you’ve retaken them with A’s. That being said, for a philosophy major especially, I think you have a fair shot at UCLA…definitely for UCI. </p>

<p>jashneel: i think those GPA’s are really, really low for admission into both Cal and LA…probably even for UCSD. the other schools arent as competitive…but can’t really say as far as what your chances are.</p>

<p>@pinoiako916 and ccherryvaseline: I just want to know my chances to UCI mainly?</p>

<p>is good if you have a tag for UCI</p>

<p>@jashneel, when I said get all A’s and have a 30-35 percent chance for Berkeley and UCLA, i meant get all A’s between now and fall semester 2011.</p>

<p>in all honesty, since i’m not an official/admissions officer of UCI, whatever I may say about your chances can always be BS. if youre majoring in classics - i’m sure they’ll want to see courses in your record that are geared toward latin or greek civilizations (language, history, etc.) if you have those, then that of course is a plus. i mean, as long as anyone meets the minimum requirements, they’ll have a chance. best thing to do is maybe find other transfers from last year who got in to that same major. theres a 2010 UC acceptance forum somewhere out there. good luck to you.</p>

<p>Major: Women’s Studies
Applied to UCLA, UCB UCSB UCI UCR (already in at UCR) I tagged UCI UCSB UCR
GPA 3.5
Finishing IGETC this Spring, no pre reqs for my major.
The only C I have gotten was for a non transferable class, for all transferable classes I have an equal number of B’s and A’s, Fall 2010 semester being my strongest semester with a 3.6
Currently at Citrus College.
My first choice is UCLA then UCI. UCB would be amazing, but I have a lot going on down here and it would kill me to move away, even for like, the mecca of UCs.</p>

<p>Applied to UCI, UCSD, UCD, UCLA, UCB
Currently at 4 year university
Now a CA resident
GPA: 3.86
Intended Major: Psychobiology at UCLA (first choice) — going for pre-med
EC: Volunteer in Emergency Room of Major Hospital, Stem Cell Lab Research at Harvard, Honors Program, Taught Science/Math to underprivileged children in NY, Church
All necessary pre-reqs done, most recommended pre-reqs done</p>

<p>I’m coming from a out of state 4 year university so i’m not sure what my chances are</p>
