*Official* 2011 transfer chance!

@nick: ok I see. well I’ll still apply and give it a shot. I’m prepared to stay another year to boost gpa. Thanks for all your help.

Yeah–all you can do is all you can do. While nothing is impossible, and I certainly hope for the best for you, I don’t want to get your hopes up either. I’m in a similar position myself, shooting for a major with an average admitted GPA far higher than mine. I’m hoping for the best, but I’m also TAGing into UCSD, expecting to end up there.

Good luck!

Chance me please

GPA:3.55(so far)
TAP
Political Science
Pre-req: 4/5(so far)
Schools: UCLA, Berkeley, UCSB
EC: Internship for CA Assembly

Good shot for UCLA and Berkeley, TAG into SB. How’s your major prereq GPA? Is there any trend in your GPA?

BTW, do you know of any CCC that offers Pol Sci 30? I haven’t been able to find one… Political Theory is rare as it is.

Major GPA:3.75
Upward trend

Pierce College in woodland hills offers political theory, it’s listed as Poli Sci 5 if you need it.

Yeah, I have Theory. My CCC offered it, but it didn’t show up as approved. Some emails to my college’s articulation officer fixed that.

UCLA and Berkeley are never a sure thing, but with an upward trend, TAP, a decent major prep GPA, major-related ECs, and a good essay (spend a lot of time on it!), you should be in good shape.

why do a lot of people think having W[s] is/are a bad thing…

Because you usually take a W when you’re not doing well in a class. Even 2 or 3 W’s are no big deal, but 8 is a concern. That said, students have been accepted to top schools even with a lot of W’s.

lol ahhh the sheep will continue to follow. how nice.

I’m not sure I understand your point. Do you think W’s are a good thing?

W’s are better even than C’s in my opinion, but if you had a bunch of classes where you risked getting a C or below, isn’t that a problem?

Schools: UCI
Major: Psychology and Social Behavior
Attending: CCC
Prereqs: I will finish them by the end of Fall 2010
Igetc: Completed in Spring 2010
TAG: Complete
GPA: 3.67
EC: Environmental club (active one) in Spring…hoping to continue it in Fall 2010 and spring 2011. Worked all throughout this summer. Going to join Phi Theta Kappa honor club this Fall because my GPA is finally high enough :]
Essay: Umm…yeah. We’ll see. I could probably do decent ones, but nothing mind blowing.

@nikker

lol!

tag is an in for sure!

tag everywhere you can.

it’ll give you more options should some unplanned event(s) take place

@nice

im glad we’re seeing it the same

Applying to: UCB–Business/Poli-sci, UCLA–Poli-sci/Phil, UCSB–Poli-Sci/Phil, UCSD–Poli-sci/Phil

Current School: CC in Dallas, TX

GPA: 3.91

Pre-reqs: I should have all of them completed by the time I apply.

EC: Phi Theta Kappa, Varsity baseball, and some community service

Awards: Academic All-American (for baseball), Dean’s List; I also have two nice letters of recommendation from a couple professors.

My family is moving from Dallas, TX to Cali in the fall, so I will be paying in-state tuition when I transfer to a UC school.

Thanks in advance for the review!

@curious

bahaha thanks :slight_smile: but still, I just want to make sure! I REALLY want to go to Irvine, so even though I kind of know I’m on top of pretty much everything, it still worries me :P. Mehh too bad about my essays though, I wish I was a better essay writer :/. Oh well…

And I don’t really want to go anywhere else, hence the fact I’m only TAG-ing w/Irvine. x]

@eclo:

Unfortunately, your GPA is pretty low to look at ucla BizEcon or econ this year. But who knows, maybe your extra curriculars will make up the difference??

I know that MathEcon is alot easier to get into as far as GPA goes, as somebody else mentioned (maybe I shouldn’t say easier, lol, you wouldn’t find me in those difficult math pre-reqs!).

According to: [Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2010 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof10_mjr.htm)

MathEcon admitted about 68% of applicants this year with avg. GPA admitted of 3.7.
Did most of them have their pre-reqs done? No idea.

BizEcon only admitted 14% of applicants with an avg. GPA of 3.94.

Econ admitted 14.6% of applicants with an avg. GPA of 3.95.

If you don’t get in this year, apply next year, for whichever econ major. I know that they supposedly only look at your “alternate choice majors” if you are TAP. Some CCC’s don’t offer TAP, but if yours does, I’d look into it if you haven’t already. I actually know nothing about TAP, because my school didn’t have it. No matter what, just make your application sparkle with you!!

Chances? Particularly for UCB… Thanks!

I’d never thought I’d be doing one of these. Things change in a few years.

Applying: UCB, UCSB, UCD, UCLA
Major: Geography (International Relations for UCD)

huiggityhuy - it really depends on how many pre reqs you have to complete in the spring. ucla is pretty impacted (so i hear) for polisci and pre reqs are VERY important to have them done by fall! but other than that, with good personal statements and a few more clubs…i think youre IN at sd, 85% for la, and 80% at berk…which are excellent chances!

GoldenLilies - obvs youre IN at davis and sb. i dont know the avg gpa for geography but without all your pre reqs finished, i think you might be very lucky to get into berk/la. hopefully your personal statements will kill 'em!
