Good luck you guys!
I’m really hoping at least some of you get in!

Hello All,

I thought this page would be buzzing right about now! Quick intro: I am a Stanford transfer student from this year! I can’t say with 100% certainty, but talking with some people in admissions you can expect the decision today! Also, although they said they hoped the number of admitted transfer students to be high this year, I am not so sure because the freshman class was over enrolled again. Regardless, keep your hopes up! You will find out soon! I think this year we had just under 50 transfers. I, along with many others, transferred from a community college. Obviously, grades are a factor, but what admissions officers place a high weight on is life experience and ability to tell your story through the application.

I hope the best for you all and hopefully see you next fall. If you have any further questions about transfer life at Stanford, please don’t hesitate to ask. I will try and log-in frequently.

Hi Lorizzle, thank you for your words of kindness and hope. They mean a lot!

Good luck, everyone! Just wanted to mention that I’ve met three students here so far who are transfers: one came from a cc, one transferred here from Harvard, and one is a military veteran. They are all doing extremely well here. : )

Rejected. :(

Acccccepted from De Anza College. Very happy.

Neither accepted nor rejected.

Waitlisted! Reaaalllly want in…I’ve had some hesitation as a liberal arts major, since Stanford seems to have a stronger techie identity, but the people I’ve known who have gone to Stanford seem multifaceted in their interests and levels of understanding. The application supplement was my favorite to do out of the colleges I applied to; it was actually a lot of fun to fill out.

From a community college, not De Anza. Doesn’t seem like my community college is often on Stanford’s radar, unfortunately.

Congrats to those who got in, and to those who are disappointed–your path is still lined with gold. Keep your eyes open to all the good things bound to happen in our future.

Didn’t get in. Fate is taking me elsewhere! Goodluck to everyone else :)

Rejected. Oh well! Congrats to everyone who got in!!!

I’m so devastated I put so much effort into my essays, and I really thought they were genuine and creative Can we have a “Stanford rejection” support group or something, please…? :(

Same here, pretty devastated. It was my second final try, will have to settle for CAL in fall. Sucks to not even have a clue as to why. Where will others be attending in the Fall?

succulent, janet and red, I can deeply sympathize with you all because I was rejected too lol. What a bummer. I know what you mean, Janet - I poured my heart and soul into it too. But I truly believe that there will be new and even greater opportunities in the paths we have ahead. I’m confident that in the future, we will look back at this period in retrospect and see how all the possibilities fell into place to shape the awesome people we’ll become. And we’re awesome right now as we are. Let’s use this tough experience as a challenge to help up grow; not as a failure, but as a learning lesson and a step to propel us forward. Above all, the pain you feel is my pain too, so remember that you’re not alone.

red, Cal is an awesome school man… my sister is currently studying there and I’ll be applying there in the fall. I have one more year here at a small cc in Oregon. Gonna use this time to get stronger and to learn more and to enjoy all the opportunities here.

Peace to you all.

Condolences to all who didn’t get in.

I tend to think of college admissions as a real crapshoot. I started the written part of my application the day it was due and didn’t have anyone read anything I wrote. Hell, I used the word “charlatan” to describe myself on the application.

Cal is a great school too; the tuition being less than half the size of Stanford’s is a bonus that I’m incredibly envious of. It’s nothing to be ashamed of :)

I seriously couldn’t believe it. I had my wife read it just to make sure I wasn’t going crazy. I got accepted to Stanford Fall 2012 from a community college in Orange County, CA. I’m very excited for this opportunity and cannot wait.

I made some poor decisions as a teenager, got kicked out of HS, got a GED, joined the military, went to community college to really apply myself, and now I will be going to THE STANFORD UNIVERSITY!! this is nuts!

This is like a pivotal moment in my family’s history… Other than my mother, no one in my family ever went to college, and now I - the one people said wouldn’t amount to much (rightfully so given my actions as a youth), will be getting my degree from an amazing school…

I congratulate all others who got admitted, and to those that didn’t keep up the good work that your doing wherever you go! Best of luck everyone. :-D

Congratulations dreu! ^^
It is a huge jump man…stats?

SAT scores?

Never took the SAT’s or the subject tests.

32’s and 34’s on the ACT when I took it this summer. Don’t think test scores matter all that much for transferring though.
