**OFFICIAL** 2013 AP World Thread

Hmmmmmmmmm, but are trade and natural resources fine as explanation.

That’s true. Sorry, I wasn’t considering the time period of the question when I answered.

Was Manchuria under Chinese rule at the time?

The more I look at my essays, the more I begin to feel like I got a 4 not a 5.

Do you guys think there will be a big curve or small curve?

Yes Manchuria was the ruling society at the time of Qing China, but they definitely could not gain control of China’s economy, which is what your essay should have revolved upon.

No clue about the curve, but almost all my classmates seemed to do pretty **** i.e. a 3. The whole 9.x% 5 rate last year seems pretty harsh.

Ah, crap.

…

5 rate last year was 6.8% of test-takers…

Wait I’m sorry. I’m still confused.

So Japan took over China in 1931 for resources or no? Was it able to gain resources when it did?

Essentially what I am saying is:

Is the Japanese “takeover” of China similar to that of the Soviet’s who controlled Eastern Europe? I said it is a similarity because they both used foreign lands as means of trade and a means to get resources.

I know that they mainly took over just to show might. But with Japan very few natural resources and China having many, I figuered Japan would want some.

Well, believe it. Read it and weep: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/ap-tests-preparation/341965-defy-college-boards-rules-your-own-risk.html.

If you look at the original thread where that article was taken from, apparently they tracked him down because he put his full name and info publicly available on his profile. And he made a bunch of outlandish claims such as that they were going to shut down his school.

“This is a load of barnacles.”

 • That one Spongebob episode

@MovingtoTexas Yea, I agree that they took over China 1931 via invasion of Nanjing, but again, I had the feeling that it would kind of be irrelevant with the rest of my essay. As far has the results of the Japanese’s successful industrialization, I just included how Japan became an imperialist nation after industrialization e.g. take over of Korea, since it seemed early 20th century enough. I feel the mentioning of Japan’s coup over China would just complicate my essay, you know, cause I feel anything after WWI would have been to far into 20th century, and I was only trying to compare and contrast the two nations; saying how one took over the other makes it seem as if the contrasting gets a little distorted. But my essay is my essay, and for you, the mentioning of Japan with Nanjing could have been a good idea. It just depends on what you think is best for * your * essay.

BTW I used China, I now get the feeling you used Russia haha. In that case then yea, that’s probably a good similarity.

Contrasting? I was comparing their similar foreign economic policy

Wait for the Comparison essay i wrote about China and Japan but didnt read that it only pertained to 19th and early 20th centuries. So i talked about how Mao did the GReat leap forward and Deng Xiaoping’s reforms :O. But I also did talk about how China was isolationist and still refused to westernize unlike Japan even after the european trade exploitations that occured from the opium war and such. So I did mention most of the appropriate stuff but I also talked about unnecessary stuff. Am I screwed?? According to the rubric can I get that many points taken off because of this?

Nah you’re fine; you can look at the Mao stuff as just a complete waste of time to write, nothing more. Remember no points are taken off, only given.

@MovingtoTexas yes, comparing Russia and Japan’s similar foreign economic policies works as you and I mentioned above. I’m trying to say I used Japan and China instead of Japan and Russia, so we are at very different essays. You should’t worry though ;)

By the way, how cruel do you guys think it is to have 2 projects due tomorrow right after a week of state and AP testing? It’s why I’m up so late xD

Could I possibly get a 5 if I did bad on the change overtime I listed development of new agricultural techniques in new areas, and development of societies for the changes which are obviously incorrect. (So ****ed at myself), but the continuities and spread of religion were relevant although not as strong. Also I feel really confident about the multiple choice hopefully around the 50’s range and the dbq around 6 minimum, the comperative 7 or higher?

Some of us still have to take ap world!
Does anyone have a copy the 2012 mc?
Please!!

You guys must be really smart, because I thought the test and the whole class were really hard.
