Anyone can be a ■■■■■, anyone, even me. Always keep that in mind when you read anything on here.

of course take everything w/a grain of salt, but vast majority of posters are genuinely nice/concerned/empathetic people

So there was a shooting at Harvard this afternoon…
[Police probe shooting outside Harvard dorm - BostonHerald.com](http://news.bostonherald.com/news/regional/view.bg?articleid=1173209&pos=breaking)

I’m thinking we might be better off/safer at the schools we’ve already been accepted to…

I always start with the post count. If the post count is low and the statement is inflammatory then I assume ■■■■■. Next I look at post history to see if the majority are inflammatory. You will notice that Iamtheman is still at post count = 1. That combined with the content says it all.

so did no ccers get called today at all?

Do the calls come from Harvard numbers, necessarily? I got a call from an unknown number (my SE Minnesota area code) around 530 EST. No voicemail though. I’m probably grasping at straws here. :/

ok so based on what I’ve been reading so far, does the notification system (?) for the first-round work like this?:

the majority of accepted waitlistees gets a call today or tomorrow
the majority of rejected waitlistees gets a call wed. or thurs.??

also does anyone know if the NY region has been reviewed yet?

I’ve been following this thread since Post #1 and it seems that there is conflicting information everywhere. My hypothesis: the admissions committee keeps facing unexpected delays, which is why they keep giving conflicting information.

No one really knows the order in which they review the regions, but it looks like they’ve done the internationals and are now moving on to people in the US.

And a majority of accepted waitlistees were not called today because if we were, then at least one person would have posted. So, either they’re all coming tomorrow, or they’ve delayed it to later this week.

^

It’s not true that they did internationals first and are now moving onto Americans, because a couple of NorCal waitlistees have already been contacted just on CC, and I know another NY one myself.

It seems that the waitlist pool is pretty big this year, so it’s not farfetched to think that a day could pass with calls but no one on CC receives one.

I expect some tomorrow. Otherwise, it’ll be a long week without exams…

^wow find a hobby lol? relax.

ahahaha ^ vouch

per the screenname, music is my hobby. Still, I’m just trying to renew my daily optimism for news.

same here with music. We have 3-hour rehearsals every single day this week, shows on Friday and Thursday. At least it’ll take my mind off this wait, but a phone call would be very welcome…

everyone could create something to commemorate their senior year. my english class is mandating this…so it takes some of the fun out of it

Man, everyone’s going to ridiculous schools like UPenn and UChicago and Colombia and stuff, and I’m stuck at UC Berkeley.

Well, I suppose I shouldn’t be complaining, Berkeley’s economics>99% of the world, but Harvard economics is the other 1% >_> Looking at the rest of the applicant pool sorta depresses me now, though I guess it’s worth noting that I only applied to HYPS+Brown (stupid, stupid me).

But Cal’s got Cal Judo, so, yeah, I’m definitely not complaining =D

^I’m going to UCB too, turned down Cornell, so you’re not stupid. UCB = saving money. i’d pay for H though… lol you complained then reassured yourself. you’re awesome.

Aw man, the news about sending “waitlist rejection” letters SUCKS. i mean, i’d want closure, but still. ugh. I knew I should’ve tried to get another rec. I just didn’t want to bother my other teachers and now I feel like my waitlist letter wasn’t enough. :(

i’m in the same boat as you guys
well almost i got into ucb and ucla and had a hard time deciding between the two
eventually went with la because of a variety of factors
but i only applied to HPS and some uc’s
and now im kicking myself for it too

opulsblood & blueducky! im going to Berkeley too. OMG, where did you guys pick to dorm? & when do we get our housing decisions? Yay, i thought i was the only one that would be going to a public university.

& yoyo687, I have some friends who picked UCLA over Cal. & i think i would have picked UCLA too, but i didnt apply there.
