I had already counted, just put the state in on the second post so minus one…makes the odds better???

It seems as though the international applicants make an even 9% of the waitlistees; and the admitted students share about the same percentage. (only one observation I made)

I’ve heard both sides: one say that the admissions officers have already picked their quotas and that they do not consider if you’re URM, black, hispanic, Chineese or Indian; on the other hand I’ve heard those who claim that a.o.'s will do everything they can to replace the only Greek student who decided to go to Yale instead, and therefore the waitlisted Greek would benefit hugely from this and get picked for his Greek status over the other great applicants.

I can guess that I am the only applicant from my country of residence who got waitlisted and therefore I am not that happy with posting which country I am from as I know that some a.o.'s browse these forums. However I am almost positive that the person who got admitted to Harvard will attend, which leaves me with this quesion: do I have a lower chance of getting off the waiting list or is it the same as for anyone else?

Does anyone have anything to say regarding the quotas, or know more than me, or have you just as me heard both sides of the story?

According to the AO, the Committee will meet again at the Begining of May, and vote Yea or Nay on each person on the waitlist. I presume that if the accepted person from your country said “no”, that fact would come up in the deliberations, and could sway the vote.

Lets presume that the accepted person says Yea. Will this harm my chances and result in a higher chance of a Nay? :(

ah waitlisting. well i said yes to the waitlist.

hm I talked to my alumini interviewer a week ago and asked him about the quota.

He said yeah, there’s quota for waitlist meaning if all the people that play tuba rejects, then they would look to admit tuba players… and such.

This is a bad news for me since I doubt any of the 3 people chosen from my country would reject the offer to H.

helloitsme, “Location: new york, ny”

So only 3 people from your country got admitted? Oh who was I to think that the US was bigger, oh well. :D

Hahahhhaa, i’m international living in U.S. so I’m in my home country’s pool which is S. Korea.

it would suck if they only picked 3 people from U.S. LOL

So what if you’re a standard strong, un-hooked, white male? I’m not sure what quota I would fit into.

The “standard” quota?

lol

please add to the waitlist stringkeymom’s son
I think he’ll make it official by sending in the card tomorrow
If not Harvard, he’s deciding between Yale, Princeton, Notre Dame and New England Conservatory.

Question: We have relatives on faculty and I have many colleagues on faculty, some in the field my son is interested in.

Is it wise to involve them at this point? I know the admissions officers are submitted to pressures of all kinds and I have thought it could be a disadvantage, although it is tempting to attempt to pull strings.

69 Just from CC… The waitlist must be pretty large.

I called Harvard to get the email address for my regional rep.
However, when i sent it, it came back saying no such email exists??

I called them again, and they said its strange because hundreds of people send email daily.
Can anyone who has the email address compare theirs with me?
mine has the ending of @sas.harvard.edu
i wanna know if yours is like that tooo

thankss

LOL!

The ending isn’t the problem since it’s an active domain. However you might have gotten the first wrong ^^
