has texas been discussed yet??

What state/area are you Squirrl?

My info came first from the receptionist at the Financial Aid Office which she went off to verify because I told her my son was told he needed to respond by May 15 (one week was what the Admissions Officer originally told my son). She said the waitlist admissions offers with financial aid packages would be sent out on May 20, with a reply date of May 26 (specific dates mentioned).

Separately, the Admissions Officer said she was incorrect when she originally to my son that he had 1 week to reply. The award letters would be sent out “the middle of next week” (which coincided with the May 20th date), and he would have until the 26th to reply. The AO also said it is part of the process to load all the kids at once into their system to activiate their logins and generate the letters (easier to batch the process than to do it one at a time).

The responses were independent and consistent with each other. It also makes a lot of sense. FA can process award packages as the AO makes the decisions. Then AO can mail out one package with admissions, FA package, and reply date. It makes me question the one post where a waitlist person said they received the FA package. So far, no one else has said they have received the official letter and FA package.

By the way, I have never heard or read anywhere official that May 19 was the cut off date for 1st round. It was reported by someone else, and became part of the generally accepted info. It was consistent with the May 20th date to mail letters, so I thought it seemed reasonable.

When you say you called the admissions office, do you get the info from the “admissions officer” (who is the person your child is assigned to) or the receptionist that answers the phones? When I say “Admissions Officer” I mean the person who handles my son’s file. When you talk with first person that answers the phone, it is most likely a college student. That person may, or may not, have the details on the process. I was reluctant to trust the Financial Aid Office receptionist, but she did take the time to verify the information (presumably by talking with a Financial Aid Officer). I then immediately called the Admissions Office to verify, but my son’s Admissions Officer was not available (I didn’t leave a message). Only later that day did I see the e-mail from her to my son with the info.

SO i just talked to the admissions office. They said phone calls are going out to those being accepted (yeah, we all knew that), and that most of the people on the waiting list would receive letters going out on Friday. I’m guess those will mostly be rejections? Or extended waitlist? I dunno. Just thought I’d share that news.

From other posts I am guessing Squirrl is from California.

does anyone know a more specific time frame for these calls?

I believe TX has been discussed already

specific time frame: not soon enough

OperaDad, I think the May 19 date came from this article: [The Harvard Crimson :: News :: Yield Holds Steady For 2013](http://www.thecrimson.com/article.aspx?ref=528168)

I sent in a letter to my reg rep telling her why I was interested in Harvard. I described all of the great parts of the college… Essentially it was another college essay, which I think I didn’t spell out clearly during RD. Also told them about what I’ve done since the original App. it was all local achievements nothing big… a speech to Condi Rice, hosting a fundraiser, and speaking to people from the GB and French State offices. That’s all And I know you guys have done more and worked your buts off so tell it to your reg. rep and sell yourself (in a good way). I only sent One update with all of that info. I have until JuNE 1st to make my decision. It’s between Harvard and UPenn (great aid), but I don’t know about Harvard’s I have to wait til the letter comes In. Anyway GOOD LUCK to those still on the list and remember to pray it worked for me.

congratulations to all three of you! hope this isn’t the end of the line for the rest of us.

Looks like PA has already been discussed…

Hope they keep on calling!
