****Official 2013 Harvard Waitlist Thread****

I’m living in China…

I have no idea how many people Harvard has accepted, but I know quite a few have been waitlisted around here.

Oh, and congratulations Gallus! (I just saw your post!!)

OK, so another question…does citizenship matter at all? Because from what I gather it seems like I will be discussed with the people from my region, so it wouldn’t. Anyone contradict me?

I’m actually unbelievably calm about the whole thing, but closure would be nice. :)

Officially, by now 80 offers have been already made to waitlistees. The only reason they will continue the waitlist if less than 80 accept.

Does that mean that there will be no extended waitlist?

Does that mean that they are no longer making calls? ._.

Wow, does that mean Round 1 is over?

It’s basically over. Thank goodness.

only 80? huh

Allrighty then…Cornell it is. Thank you for the privilege of being a part of your lives - you are a great bunch of talented students!! Good Luck wherever you choose to go. Everything I learned here I will put to good use - for Grad school admissions and for my younger son 6 yrs from now. Hope we still hear some good news…

^^That leaves 5 more…

^seconded. I’m not giving up hope.

and we can hope at least a few will get off the waitlist at their top choices somewhere else, or have conditional acceptances to oxford or something…every spot counts :P

And we all know that the people who pick up the phone just guess at what the committee does. They could have chosen 80 but still not called–and this is indeed round one. There usually is a round 2, albeit small.

Exactly. One previous poster mentioned that first wave ends on Friday. Well, we still have a small window of hope for wave 1. Speculation vs speculation.

Hope!

Maybe I’m just being naively hopeful, but I really doubt that all 85 students have been called. It wouldn’t make sense that we have only read on this thread about a few areas. Harvard wouldn’t only take students off the waitlist from PA, CA, and England…

If you read above, there are many, many Harvard WLers who are not CCers–some appear here after they are accepted, many never do, or do not know (or have time for) CC. (The last three H admittees from our school in the past 2 years never knew of CC.)

At the same time, the cc’ers we have heard from have been only from a few regions. I will concede, however, that those areas do constitute a sizable percentage of Harvard’s student body. Anyways, I’m clinging onto hope.

hope springs eternal…I haven’t received any calls or emails from Harvard…guess a rejection’s coming my way…

there’s still the z list; only one person from CC was put on the Z list, and they usually make Z list decisions later on. although who would want to be forced to defer one year? i personally would have a hard time deciding.

Personally, I would take the z-list admission instantly, and the same for a spot in the Class of 2013. It seems as though only a few internationals have been picked except the 5 Britts, lol, and one italian guy. :(

Maybe more will come in round 2  I hope so though!
