Thanks, Bittersweet91!

I remember 2 years ago my son was on waiting list and he seemingly went through three waves of calls until he was finally rejected in June.

I guess rejection is on its way…
Has anyone heard about the South?

No!
But what we must all remember is that the AO has already given out numerous items of confusing, conflicting information. The students working the phones may not have full information and may give out inaccurate statements. The only thing that we must be sure of is what’s been PRINTED in the Crimson. And that has been that 85 people or more will be taken off the list. So they won’t stop at 80. They have to report how many people they have taken off, so if they go below their predicted numbers it will just look bad. I am sure Harvard does not want to look bad.

My friend got accepted off the waitlist last night at around 7. Oddly enough, he was accepted into the class of 2014, not 2013. Why is that?

^ something called the “z-list”
it’s a forced gap year…does ur friend have a legacy or attend a private school by any chance?

We attend a smallish parochial school in Massachusetts. I am not sure if he is a legacy or not. I don’t think so though, I’m sure he would have mentioned it before.

I know of three people who got off the waiting list from Long Island by latest Tuesday (5/19). Just saying.
I know two for certain were based on sheer academic/extracurricular merit; the other one… I don’t actually know him, so I don’t know. I’m still on the waitlist myself, but I don’t think I’ll get off.
Anyway, good luck to all of you, and congratulations to those who got calls!

Do you have to get a call from them to be admitted or could they send the acceptance by mail?

Heard nothing in the South… Well guys, guess we’ll see what happens next.

This is really annoying…

i am almost certain that you have to get a call. they wont just send it by mail.

any estimates on what the WL yield is…?

Going to assume myself rejected at this point and forget about H unless they contact me otherwise. It was nice commiserating with all of you guys, though.
I’ll be heading up to Chicago in the fall and am pretty excited, so I think things will work out just fine, for me and everyone else here too.

Feeling a rejection letter next tuesday-wednesday.

Is there just going to be 1 round?

there will probably be two rounds at least, unless EVERYBODY accepted off for the first around accepts the offer. However, as previous posters have implied, there will be some people who still reject the offer… people who got into Princeton or Yale, for example, who have already gotten attached to and excited about their school, know what they want to do there, etc. … I don’t know how many people this will be… nobody does… but other posters have estimated about 80% yield off the waitlist, so if 85 were offered already, then about 15 more spots will probably be offered…? that is just my guess. any other input? good luck to everybody.

and i think most people will be rejected first round. :/

just got the rejection letter. :-/

so long cc

sorry to hear that.
I’m sure that you’re going to an awesome university/college anyway!

did the letter give any information?

just said they could only offer a limited number of spots

Sorry to hear that. Good luck with next year! I’m sure you’ll have a great time wherever you go.

Did they send it by post or email?
