At this point, I really want to be on the extended waitlist. </p>

<p>@helloitsme - Yes, I go to school in the city and live in a nearby suburb. I’m surprised that the letter hasn’t arrived by now; it shouldn’t take more than three days from Boston to NY. I’m wondering if maybe I am actually on the extended WL. Still though, it may be too early to make that determination.</p>
<p>I’m from right outside NYC too and haven’t gotten anything. I was thinking I might be on the extended waitlist, but it seems like no one’s heard anything. I haven’t even heard of anyone being taken off from around here. Could it even be possible that they haven’t reviewed the area yet?</p>
<p>I don’t know how helpful this is, but someone I know who lives in Boston got their rejection letter this week. I don’t know him that well, so I’m not sure exactly what day, but I heard that he didn’t get in.</p>

<p>GAH! I do wish they would send an email out for rejections, instead of just snail mail. I live on the West Coast of Canada, and have received nothing yet, so I’m fretting out like crazy here. Meh, if I get rejected, it’s no biggie. BUT STILL! Some closure would indeed be nice. Rejections should be emailed quickly in my opinion.</p>

<p>still no letter, and called the H.admissions office, where the person who answered would “neither admit nor deny” but said most likely I was on the extended list. However, this was without even taking my name and ID info.
Now am calling my HS college advisor to see if he has more info, because that was highly unsatisfactory information from H.</p>
<p>I was waitlisted, if you all think my name should go on the list (to help with statistics of admits from the waitlist maybe?). I took my name off the list though a little while back - I’m headed to Vanderbilt.</p>
<p>For what it is worth: Do you remember getting your on-line access code to respond and say you wanted to be on the waitlist? Well, if you were admitted, that same code works so you can reply and accept the offer of admissions on-line. The link to the Admitted Students website is:</p>

<p>So, if you admitted, the access code should work. If you are not admitted, then I don’t think it will work. It also doesn’t help to distinguish between those rejected, and those who are on the extended waitlist.</p>

<p>My college counselor said that his corresponding Harvard admissions officer told him that they were “basically set” with the offers they had sent out, meaning they expected only a few more places to become available with all the shuffling around. He also told me that most of the meaningful waitlist activity of all colleges has ended.</p>
<p>So, for those of us on the extended waitlist we will just wait more, & then basically be rejeted later? Since there are barely any spots left, right? ughh this sucks.</p>
<p>^^If the waiting sucks then stop waiting. Stop punishing yourself. Simple - just set Harvard aside and move on. Focus on the school you will be attending. I bet it’s a great school. Then if some far-fetched miracle actually occurs and you get off the extended waitlist, Great! A huge surprise - and you can start thinking about Harvard <em>then</em> and not now.</p>
<p>you can always take your name off the waitlist if you can’t stand the wait :)</p>
