****Official 2013 Harvard Waitlist Thread****

I got the rejection letter too, although I’ve been expecting it. I’m sure all of us will have an excellent experience wherever we go. As for me I’ll be heading off to the University of Chicago, which was actually my first choice years and years ago before getting caught up in the whole CC prestige-madness. I think fit-wise everything did work out. Anyone else heading up to the UofC this fall?

I got my rejection letter today too.
I think we all deserve a nice hug for going through this for 3 months :]

off to georgetown!

You have all shown such optimism and perseverance. It’s been heartwarming to read your enthusiastic updates. Good luck at your schools- your energy will take you far!

Here’s the hug you deserve ((((!))))

Got my (first) college rejection letter today haha…

Off to MIT ;)

I was pretty curious to see if Harvard would admit me. I walked into college admissions with MIT as my first choice, after I was deferred Harvard became my first choice, once Ivy decisions came out Princeton was my first choice, and after the preview weekends MIT was once again my top choice. Tumultuous road, but I’m glad it’s all behind me. Best of luck to future years!

Got the rejection letter today, off to Duke which I really like a lot. Harvard has always been my parents hope (my dad is an alum), less so my own–although it would have been an ego trip and an interesting problem to tackle with my parents. But H. has a pretty bad engineering dept so it was going to be a serious tradeoff if I actually went there. However, being kept so long on the list made me feel it wasn’t going to happen, but hadn’t realized how much it was weighing on me to be in the back of my mind. Am going to celebrate tonight with friends–for the first time wholeheartedly enjoying my future at Duke. Now I know what some people felt back in April–a definite decision and throwing oneself into it.

@ Philosophia and HopingforHarvard – Cal is AMAZING, and you’re going to LOVE it here!

Blue and gold are better colors too! H4H – you’ll have to change your name . . .

I got the rejection letter today. I hurts quite a bit but I saw it coming after my call to my AO. Off to Rice!!

I just saw a lot of people starting to get rejection letters…
I’m out of the country from June 18th to July 18th, I’ve already told my admissions officer, but she didn’t respond… Is anyone else in the same boat as me? Will we get an e-mail if we are rejected or admitted?

@Colbert - I’m currently out of the country. My AO told me in an email that she had called my cellphone twice and left two messages, but when I didn’t respond she called my home number and my dad explained to her that I was out of the country. Then she went ahead and sent me the email.

Thanks alicimoo.
My family is with me, and no one is at home sooo… I guess I just have to hope that my Admissions Officer remembers my previous e-mail…

You’ll probably get a letter if it’s a definite no, but Admissions will call you otherwise.

still haven’t heard anything…anyone in the same boat?
and when will they notify us by…?

I haven’t heard anything either! My counselor said they try evaluate the kids from the same school at the same time, but a girl in my class got rejected on Monday and I haven’t heard anything…haha I’m starting to get really nervous…

If you haven’t heard, then you probably still have a chance. At least 2 of us got in off the waitlist in the past couple of weeks - alicimoo and I. Several others I know got rejection letters last week and this week, so they are sending them out. You might want to keep writing your admissions officer expressing your continued interest. That’s what I did.

so do they call your house phone or cell phone?
and exactly what happens-- they’re just like “this is Harvard Admissions and we would like to congratulate you…” something like that? And if no one picks up do they leave a voicemail or just move on to the next person?

im wondering if my rejection letter just got lost somewhere because this is honestly taking way too long.

Nothing yet. Aren’t we all suppose to hear by the 1st?!

They called my cell but I missed the call so they left a message saying to call the next day. I called, got the good news, and then a package in the mail 2 days later.

They call your cell, if no one picks up, leave a voicemail. Call back the next day, and if no one picks up again, they leave a voicemail again and call your house.

no call, no letter. what’s going on…

so i’ve been following this thread for awhile… i’ve been on the waitlist, and today i missed a call from my rep. I tried to call her back but she didn’t pick up. judging from what the last few people have said, does a phone call generally indicate acceptance? i dont want to get my hopes up… but im seriously hoping like crazy i get accepted. i didn’t get into the other ivy’s i applied too. In fact, i’m stuck with suffering my backup school if i dont get into harvard. but im still hoping! if you have any info to pass on, please do. i’ll be waiting for my call tomorrow and will definitely post here what happens. :)
