I would think a phone call is a good sign. Good luck

i got my follow up phone call today, and they offered me a spot in the class of 2014, implying i would have to take a gap year. I’m definitely not doing that, so im going to U of Arizona. Depending how this first year goes, I may reapply as a transfer student to some of these schools, but we’ll see.
Good luck to everyone else. :)

Katharine01, Harvard does not accept transfers. If it is your dream school you may want to consider taking a gap year and doing something really fun and exciting, travel, volunteer in a third world country, be a nanny etc etc. I know a few kids who did this including my D’s roommate and they said they would not trade their gap year for anything.

STILL NOTHING…I thought we had so hear by July 1st? I haven’t gotten a letter or phone call

ditto 10char

Katherine: My daughter also has friends at H who did this who are quite happy. That being said, my daughter would not have done it either. Best of luck to you!

@Katharine - Harvard won’t be accepting transfers any time in the near future. Neither is Princeton. Not sure about Yale, but across the board it is DEADLY competitive, % wise harder than regular admissions.

But on a more personal level, one of my closest friends was put on the Z list and chose to take a gap year. He landed a fantastic job AND traveled all over the place AND had some breathing room before college. I would seriously consider all of the possibilities before ruling out the gap year. Give a call to your admissions officer and let him/her give you some more ideas. Other waitlistees might scream at you for taking too long to decide but it’s your decision and your right to consider the benefits. good luck!

I probably shouldn’t still be on this thread, but i’m just wondering if there’s anyone still on the list? has anyone not heard anything yet?

Yeah, I haven’t heard anything yet. No rejection in the mail today and I haven’t gotten a phone call yet. I thought they were telling everyone something by July 1st? I also heard that there is an extended wait list for the month of july…does this mean we are on that? or are they still deciding on our cases?

Some people were called in for additional interviews last week and told they would be notified this week after final Admissions Committee meetings Monday & Tuesday and a final count on available class spaces. Evidently final letters have all been sent at this point (if not all yet received).

Thanks to all for the input. I’m pretty sure I’m going to take it… I’m a control freak and so originally the idea of throwing my theoretical 4 year plan out the window made me anxious and unhappy. But after looking at the possibilities for my gap year, I’ve definitely done a 180. I’m hoping to go to France and get better at the language and maybe do some volunteer work in Australia. It IS Harvard, and the financial aid is better than what I had, so… how can I turn that down? :D

Hooray for you, Katharine! Congratulations!!!

i have yet to hear anything from harvard since being waitlisted months and months ago. can anyone relate? has my rejection just been lost in the mail?

Sounds like a good decision, Katherine. I’m a big fan of gap years. I know many people including my younger S who took productive gap years, and learned lots about themselves and the world, things that were of benefit to themselves for the rest of their lives.

Jake: Call the admissions office and ask them for an update.

i also didnt receive a decision until july and i called in and i guess they had the wrong mailing address
but yea i just got the rejection a few days ago
i was pretty bummed but i guess i was expecting it
its been a pleasure going through all of this with you guys and this will be my last post on this thread or even on cc for that matter
i wish you all the best of luck in college and to all those who got rejected, were going come back with a vengeance in grad school!!

I STILL haven’t recieved an answer on my waitlist status…aghhh what is going on?

Call them obviously.
