Just got back home and checked the messages in the answering machine. One voice said he was from harvard admission. He continued that I was chosen to be one of the first round to be off the waitlist. However I was not home and I was put back to the waitlist. My god, my weekend vacation became a Harvard Dream destruction.

Waitlistoffwaitl - If you indeed found the message that you described, I am guessing that someone has pulled a prank on you. I don’t believe that Harvard would take the effort to select an applicant from the waitlist to offer them admission and then put them back on the waitlist only because they were not home to answer the phone. I am also wondering about your post count of 2.

I know May 8th is the day, but is it official that that specific day is when we hear from admissions officers or is that when they reconvene to reevaluate applications?

i think they reconvene a little earlier and will start notifying on May 8th. Does anyone know whether people who have been admitted to Yale have a lower chance of being taken off the waitlist at Harvard? I have heard that this is the case.

Take 4th House off the waitlist. Yes, there are some folks who actually turn down Harvard … or at least their waitlist. S had always considered P&H choices 1 and 1a, and upon being accepted to P and attending their prefrosh preview, decided he’d found a home. Best wishes to all. The mathematical chances of getting off H’s list have now increased ever so slightly.

Son got an e-mail this morning from Harvard asking if he wanted to go onto the waitlist, he has until May 5 to offer an answer. He’s taking APs today, so I don’t know if he will response. I suspect he won’t go onto the waitlist. He paid his deposit elsewhere.

momreads if your son was not originally on the waitlist I seriously doubt they would add him on the waitlist from the rejected pile. However, if he was on it in the first place I can imagine that they would be willing to postpone the answer deadline.

We’ll just have to wait till friday and see what happends :)

^ No, I do not they believe they have announced a date. My guess is that we will see the first indications of “I got in from the waitlist!” postings on here, probably in the next week or so… if history is any indication, that is. I think the May 8th date was an educated guess from somebody up the stack in this thread.

Actually, May 8th is the day they announced in the article in the crimson. It said applicants could be notified as early as may 8th or something like that. but it is definately the day something goes down.

Sit tight and look out for ■■■■■■. I bet there will be at least one ■■■■■. And they said just as HopingForHarvard said in an article in The Crimson that waitlistees will be hearing as early as May 8. However, as with all other projected stuff they are not absolut and carved in stone, anything may change. Imagine a record low yield of 65% they would start accepting waitlistees much earlier than May 8 just to fill up the class in a reasonable time.
