*"Official" 2013 USABO*

Why does not CEE release the past semifinal exams?

[CEE | What’s New in the 2013 USABO?](http://www.usabo-trc.org/whatsnew.php)

The bottom of the page says:
“All Open Exams and the Semifinal Exams from 2003 to 2012 with keys will be available online in the Teacher Resource Center (TRC). Teachers may use them with their students as they see fit.”

Why there aren’t copies of the semifinal on the web, i don’t know :/

Will Open Exam score report release a week later than the standard release since the Open Exam period was extended?

I don’t think so. If they were going to delay the results they would have posted it on their website by now since the results come out in a week and a half.

Could someone please explain #1 on the 2006 semi exam? I feel stupid because it seems obvious
but when I tried to do it the answer was 1000 x too much

if anyone knows about a detailed explanation packet, I love you! I just have the answers.

my neurons fried after I took practice test
hope i made it to semis and good luck to evry1 :)

Is making semis an impressive achievement? Should I invest the time t study for it for next year?

My teacher said the scores are released on March 6 instead of the 4th

that’s what the usabo website says too

nooooooooooooo

For the Biology Olympiad, which chapters of Alberts’ MBoC should I pay very sophisticated and careful attention??

Did anybody participated in Science Olympiad tournament this year? Just curious

Why is it that I feel this year’s test was harder than last year’s? I even studied a lot more this year compared to last year.

^i’m hoping for a cutoff around 25-27 :(

yeah i did sci oly why?

@diannaagron
LOL. We meet again. Ready for more disappointment from yet another science Olympiad?
P.S. I wouldn’t be saying this if I made physics and sound like a complete dick

@raphael we better both make it this time! i missed physics by 0.25 points

To be honest, this open exam was insanely easy
I would not be surprised if there were one or two perfect scores on this exam, or at least nearly perfect scores. This being said, although I wouldn’t be surprised by a low 30s cutoff, I think a mid-high 20s cutoff would be the most realistic.

@ darksigma

I agree the cutoff will probably be around 28-30, no more than than that.

darksigma, Which chapters should I focus on Raven’s Plant Biology and MBoC (Molecular Biology of the Cell)?

I was looking around and I found a copy of the 2013 exam floating around here:
[2013_USABO_Open_Exam.pdf - download now for free. File sharing. Software file sharing. Free file hosting. File upload. FileFactory.com](FileFactory)

Also based upon that test I compiled an answer key if anyone is interested.

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

28)
If one were to follow the path of a human erythrocyte starting from an artery that leads to the duodenum, the erythrocyte will most likely pass through ____ capillary beds before reaching the right ventricle of the heart.

a) 1
b) 2
c) 3
d) 4
e) 5

Should be 2. One in the end organ (duodenum) and then in the liver via the portal system before returning to the heart.
I’m not sure about posting the test though. Be careful.
