*"Official" 2013 USABO*

Hey guys I’m currently a sophomore and I will start preparing for the USABO as soon as I’m done with my APs this year. Can someone tell me is there a difference between a top 50 and other semifinalists? Would they recognize you as a top 50 or you’re just same as anyone else who did not make the camp?

Because I heard for USACO, they have Top 150 and Top 50, I don’t know if it’s true or not

@Concerned7:
Sorry I can’t answer your PM because I don’t have enough posts haha. I will say that I don’t know my score nor the cutoff, and I only know I’m a finalist because the organizer emailed me.

when will the rest of us get our scores?

@Rupnok - where did you get the scores histogram and data? Is this the official list?

I got the info from the TRC. AFAIK it is the official list. Don’t you see your name on the list?

Yes, but it’s spelled wrong :P

I was just wondering if I had to correct it, since they spelled it right on the forms they sent me.

@StudiousMaximus
I’m a sophomore right now and I’m preparing for USABO. How much did you study, how far did it get you, and is 1 year enough to make it to the camp?

Haha, I’m not sure why people are still messaging/replying to me about USABO. My teacher ended up failing to register, so I took USNCO (and made semis) instead.

Generally, a thorough understanding of the AP curriculum will get you semis, and a thorough understanding of Campbell’s + Raven’s Plant + perhaps a biochem book (like Voets) will get you top 20. Good luck!

scores are posted

Does anyone have the 2013 semifinal exam? Ans. key???

@Rupnok
Does the teacher resource site have it?

everyone should tell cee to create an honors and high honors list like the chemistry olympiad does

First off, I want to congratulate everyone who made it to camp and good luck with IBO.

@kcanand111:

I completely agree. Anyone who finished in the top 100 including myself :(, has worked very hard and deserve some recognition. IF CEE is reading these posts I hope they will do something about it.

i think they wont do anything unless we all email the director of usabo, i think her name is Ms. Frame

@Opinion559 and @kcanand111 I agree. I missed the cutoff by 2 points, and I really want some sort of recognition.

@opinion The TRC does not have this years semifinals. I bet emblem has a copy some how.

I have taken the equivalent of 1 year of Honors Biology. I don’t want to set unrealistic goals, but if I start studying now, is it possible to make it to the USABO camp? I’ve noticed that there is no recognition for Top 150 and Top 50 like the chemistry olympiad so should I study for USNCO instead so as to not “put all my eggs into one basket”?
