Reading this is making me anxious to get my ED reply from Davidson. It seems like an eternity! One of my good friends got into Dartmouth today, and I could not be happier for him! Congratulations to everyone who got accepted, and everyone else–you’ll find the college for you, don’t worry!

Congrats to those who got in, you have worked hard! For those who did not, there’s hope and don’t kill yourself over one school because colleges sometimes skip over the ones who deserve the spot!

Anyone wanna give me possible reasons on why I was deferred? (my deferral stats are on the middle of pg 2, didn’t want to spam by quoting it)

Btw christineekim, My SAT score is just my entire score taken from my 2nd time. All 3 parts were higher than the first time I took it though. Most SAT scores here are probably superscored.

^Well, you’ve got a quite a few unknowns in terms of recs from teachers and counselor, so perhaps they could have been the problem?
And a “good” essay is a bit vague for giving much indication of just how good it might be…
In any case, hopefully you get accepted from the RD pool…

SAT 2230
GPA 3.8 UW
ethnicity: biracial (half asian, first generation american though my parents went to low level schools)
hooks? ummm pretty sure not. I’m big into art so it could have been the portfolio i submitted? other than that… haha
school: prep feeder in ma
recs: didn’t read. got one from my history teacher who loved me, my science teacher (dartmouth alum who tailored my rec to how i would fit at the school) and my art teacher.
essay: wrote about photography, a passion.

really not sure why i got in and others didn’t.

CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!!! And to you deferrees, don’t lose hope! And if you were unfortunate enough to be rejected, I am sorry But no matter what you will still go to a great school and have an amazing time wherever you go.

I’m finding it hard to keep the faith alive here, but I definitely don’t want to give up on Dartmouth yet. My letter directed me to send more supplementary information. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much for all of the support, it’s been snow storming/ blizzarding here in Minnesota since I received my electronic letter!

Congratulations to a lot of the Dartmouth ED applicants! You guys did really well this time around. To those who were deferred, work on some of the easily changeable aspects of your application and try to grab a spot during the regular round. If not, I’m sure that there are other GREAT schools out there which might happen to be much better fits for you in the end. Same goes for you guys that got rejected. There are better schools out there that might accept you. Remember, the college admissions process is as random as rolling a die.
