From a Vnese: You are so awesome starrytales. T___T. English 1 at HN-Ams this year is so great. :|

Congrats on getting in, from a 13 to the 14s. This is the best decision you’ve ever made. Get excited… it’s all crazy fun from here!

Also: COME TO DIMENSIONS. Especially if you’re not ED, but even if you are ED. It’s an unbelievable weekend. You don’t want to miss it.

Just wanted to join in - didn’t post before.

Decision: Accepted CAS

Stats:

* SAT: 590 M 610 CR 560 W
- SAT IIs: 670 US History, 590 Biology
- GPA: 4.1 weighted
- Rank: 40 out of 550
- Other stats: 9 AP classes, 10 AP tests, 6 college classes during hs

Subjective:

* Essays: Why Cornell, CAS, really great - common app essay interesting but not as great
- Teacher Recs: Both very good but not the best student ever
[ *] Counselor Rec: very good
[ *] Hook (if any): strongly recruited athlete for income sport

Location/Person:

* State or Country: California
- School Type: Large Public, not selective
- Ethnicity: White
- Gender: Male
- Intended Major: some kind of humanities, with one science a year to have med option if I can survive the classes - will definitely need tutoring from the start
- major strength/weakness: recruited athlete/test scores/large financial aid

Other Factors: would not have likely been admitted without being recruited, but because of sports ability plus grades with AP classes was recruited by several ivy league schools -

i hope that more ED acceptances will also mean more RD acceptances, in my weird thinking… i’m waiting til april but i wish i applied ED here :(

congrats though.
seriously everyone accepted deserved this. so now you can breathe and enjoy the rest of high school haha.

^It depends on whether they increase the class size by 50 or so as they are currently considering. If they increase the class size then more ED acceptances could signal either more RD acceptances or maybe about the same as usual. If they decide not to increase the class size then more ED accpetances will mean FEWER RD acceptances.

For all those deferred or rejected, don’t worry about it. Last year I was deferred, but ultimately wound up at another phenomenal school in the form of Duke. If you do not end up at Dartmouth, you will find your fit. To be honest, I am so happy I’m at Duke and not Dartmouth, as I have warmth, amazing sports, a city within 200 miles, and much better looking girls.

Anyway, for those accepted congratulations. Its a great school and I’m sure you will enjoy your four years.

Uh, Nadia60, @Post 103 – Did you mean to post in the Cornell forum??

ACCEPTED!!!

Teacher Recs: Really Good
[ *] Counselor Rec: Phenomenal
[ *] Hook (if any): 3 Languages, TASP

State or Country: Northeast

Other Factors:
National Merit Semifinalist
Did an intel project, research done at Columbia Lab, Professor wrote a great rec for me.

Ooops. Take out the last paragraph; I was cutting and pasting. LOL

Apparently Dartmouth admissions really does know what it’s doing.

what are you trying to say Consolation?

I’m in!

SAT: 540 m, 520 cr, 700 w (I know, I suck at most things, but writing I PWN)
SAT II: Lit 510, French 540, Math 1 490
GPA: 3.1 Weighted
AP English Language and AP English Literature
Writer for school newspaper for 2 years
10 hrs community service (bare minimum)
I wrote a ****ty common app essay about my fat neighbor. He’s cool and assured me I would get in, but I didn’t believe him, but I guess he was right!

Congrats to everyone who got in!
Good luck to those who were deferred or rejected!

Will Dartmouth throw out the application after looking at SATs before reading the essay?

“what are you trying to say Consolation?”

Consolation was trying to say that Dartmouth knew that you were an exceptionally strong candidate, just not a fit for their school. Everything you love about Duke is the opposite of Dartmouth. They knew you weren’t a fit and would find your match elsewhere, if that makes sense.

Hm - I may be a little late getting in on this, but here it is -

^ Wow, those are great stats, I hope everything works out well for you. Alhtough the fact that you got deferred makes me scared for RD, but I suppose things will turn out in one way or another.

No, that isn’t what I was saying at all. I was commenting on the poster’s pathetically adolescent remark about the attractiveness of the female students.

And in another post:

Am I the only one who suspects this is a ■■■■■?

@ Consolation, You beat me to the post.

Yeah i do think they are ■■■■■■. There is no way someone with those stats could have gotten in, unless they taught blind and/or deaf kids how to read in Africa and did every single sport imaginable.
