Official 2014 NYU Transfer Thread

Last year, Tisch kids heard back in April and May. I think Steinhardt hears back around the same time, and usually stern kids hear back last.

@greengecko I can’t remember exactly where I read it, but on their website it says throughout the month of May. <a href=“Transfer Applicants”>Transfer Applicants;

but I know I definitely saw somewhere that it would be early May

Yeah I believe you. But it says on their Tisch site, that notifications are mid-April for Tisch applicants (external transfers):

<a href=“Undergraduate Film & Television”>Undergraduate Film & Television;

I’d really like some input as to what you guys think my chances are! I’m a freshman at Emerson College, I have a 3.75 GPA here, 1940 SAT, 25 ACT, and I applied for Fall 2014 for Gallatin. I have a lot of extracurriculars here as well as an internship, I have strong essays and one of my professor recommendations is from an NYU alumnus if that carries any weight. I really, really want to go to NYU so I was just wondering what you guys think of my chances!!

Do they prefer if you go to a better-known school than community college? I couldn’t afford the universities I got into so I went to a community college for now. Planning on applying this upcoming december.

I’ve applied to the CAS Computer Science program. Good luck to you all :-)

Why is this thread so short? I’ve been looking at past years official transfer pages and they seem much more active in terms of posting. Anyway, I hope I’m in the right place. I applied to Tisch on the deadline (4/1) and I still am yet to receive any confirmation email/webID/Albert login. How long did it take for you guys to receive yours? I noticed they viewed the videos I submitted for my creative portfolio yesterday 4/9. Has anybody heard anything yet?

Hey I applied to Tisch for Film & Television and so did another one of my friends, we both live in Paris and she said she was told we would be notified in mid April so that means we should know in like a week.We both received a notification email and I also applied before the deadline. You should really talk to NYU because I think you should have reieved that email. Its important because you can check that all of your materials were recieved like transcripts and your Commonapp. I was rejected last year so I’m hopping this time it works out but good luck to you. I’ve got my fingers crossed. :slight_smile:

Thank you @Filmschoolgirl! I called UG admissions this afternoon and they said applicants may receive the confirmation email up to three weeks after submitting their application. It makes me nervous not knowing the status of my application but the lady I spoke with reassured me that ‘no news is good news’ and if I was missing something they would have contacted me already (hopefully lol). I also applied for Film & TV, hopefully we will both be admitted! What type of creative sample did you submit?

@theyadoreyou‌ Good, I haven’t received any news as of yet either. I submitted film stills of my work, I actually made a film but wasn’t able to edit on the computers that my university has so I had no choice but to submit stills but I also submitted my website and I thought that had enough material on it. Well, if the notifications are coming out in mid April then we should know next week or the week after. Good luck!

Hi guys. I got an email from Arts and Sciences the other day saying I was admitted! I sent in my common app in mid February, and I sent in the supplement about a week or so before the April 1st deadline. If anyone sent their common app in around the time I did, you can expect to hear sooner rather than later (at least for Arts and Sciences). Goodluck everyone!

I’m also applying for Tisch Film Production. It says on their website that mid-April is their notification, but everywhere else I see it says “throughout the month of May” so I don’t really know who/what to trust.

Congrats @ard1995! Good to know they started releasing some decisions already. Are you going to attend?

@filmschool I’m sure your stills and website will be enough. I wish I had gotten a website together in time! Since this is the second time you’re applying it hopefully will up your chances of getting in!

@greengecko I just looked through last years transfer thread. The earliest Tisch acceptance I could find was posted on April 18th, but it was for a recorded music applicant. Hopefully we will start hearing back next week! If you submitted a link to a video you can see if they have watched it yet, might give some clues about how much they have left to review.

Did you guys apply anywhere else for film production or just NYU?

Besides the email, is there any place where you can check your admission decision? Like on the website or something?

@werpofili NYU Albert most likely.

@theyadoreyou ~ April 18 sounds good to me! And I’m also applying to USC.

Applying as well! I’m a little anxious because neither of my official transcripts are listed as received on Albert, even though I sent them in a while ago. Best of luck to everyone! I guess I’ll wait for a missing items email before sending them in again.

Same here. Only my Application Fee and Standardized Test Scores they have processed! Makes me so nervous.

All my stuff has been processed on Albert for the last few months. However, it did take them like a month after I sent them in for them to finally appear on Albert and I would imagine they are dealing with a boatload of applications materials at the moment. If it doesn’t show up in the next few days/the next week, I’d give them a call.

Well if it’s taking this long for stuff to show up in Albert and I haven’t even received my log in information yet, I’ll probably get accepted/rejected before I get that confirmation email lol.

@theyadoreyou‌ Also remember that the application deadline was also only 2 weeks ago. They may not be streamlined like some other schools are and NYU definitely receives plenty of applications every year, so they are more than likely just sorting through all the paperwork they are receiving. I sincerely doubt this should be anything to be concerned with.
