Official 2014 NYU Transfer Thread

@dwarnock95‌ Don’t lose hope. I wasn’t a very strong applicant either.

HS GPA: 3.6
College Fall Semester GPA: 3.4 (large state university)
ACT: 31

I didn’t have to many EC, some volunteering.

Good luck!

@tweetybird12‌ I had my housing change about 10 days ago. But I haven’t heard anything yet. Btw I don’t have any change on my fa page :(

@dwarnock Your changes are definitely not extremely small because it was submitted on March 31st. Someone on this thread who was accepted has Albert saying it was submitted on April 14th I believe.

I am getting worried as well… I applied to CAS and my application was completed around mid February. I am from a community college student so maybe NYU do not prefer CC students. However, I know CC students got accepted.
My stats are as followed:
CC GPA: 3.88 (50 credits)
Volunteered in several places including nursing home, doctor office etc.
Tutored for one semester
Participated in independent research (publication pending)

Anxiety is killing me! :(

@niche13 our high school GPA is pretty simialar, my college is a little higher, but you’re ACT is a lot higher than mine lol
@kadotab thanks that makes me a little more hopeful haha. Have you heard back yet?

So people who got admission…How are you going to deal with your housing in the following fall??
I am working on that housing app and it says $1000 deposit is not refundable… should I commit this gambling…lol? My parents want me to live on campus since the following fall is my first year at NYU…
I am not sure if I have to pay $1000 while working on the housing app or pay after if I receive a housing offer… so complicated… DO I have to pay $1000 on the first hand or not?? Would anyone like to explain how it works??

@back2home‌ I paid the housing deposit thinking they would give me a refund before school starts if I’m not offered housing. I emailed housing to ask them but haven’t gotten a reply yet. I wish I could call but I’m out of the country for now. Does anyone know anything about this situation?

@back2home‌ I called housing yesterday and the lady advised me immediately not to pay the deposit. Housing isn’t guaranteed so by paying you’ll be taking a big gamble.

@goldblend‌ I submitted my application March 7 and audition package March 14

@Blossom14 Ok, a couple weeks before I did. I hope I hear back tomorrow!

@goldblend‌ you probably will! Good luck!

@dwarnock95‌ nope. lol but after some things which happened I doubt I could afford NYU anyways  Best of luck to everyone :)

Just paid my deposit for the fall. I wish you the best of luck to you all

accepted at 7:57 this morning to CAS!!!

to people who think it’s rolling admission, don’t lose hope because I applied March 31st at like 11pm lol, and my housing and financial aid weren’t changed when I checked last night

@kan123 congrats!!! I’m super happy for you!!! Guess I’m gonna be rejected for I applied in late January but still haven’t heard back… Anyway congrats again! What’s your major by the way?

Hey guys! I’ve been following along for a bit and wanted to let you know that I finally received an admission decision today at 7:57 AM and have been accepted into CAS. My Housing and Financial Aid both changed yesterday. If you do not see a change it does not mean you are going to be rejected, however, I think that if you do see them it is a good indication of acceptance.

@Rheeeea Econ! My stats aren’t amazing to say the least, so even I was surprised to get in

High school: 3.4 (a few extracurricular and volunteer activities)
College GPA: 3.6 from a large university
A lot of extracurricular and activities, with some good internship experiences

I think what really helped me is I had a lot of family struggles in the past year and wrote a pretty strong essay regarding them (at least I think that’s what helped me since I feel like the majority of applicants had much better GPAs than mine that were accepted)

My housing STILL hasn’t changed, so now I can really say don’t be discouraged if your housing hasn’t changed yet

@kan123 Mine is similar to yours. Hope I can still have a chance!! But unluckily I’m international, so…
Thanks a lot for your info!!!

I STILL havent heard back yet!
