Although I haven’t been active on this forum for a long time, I would be interested in joining the study group too!
I’ve never used google groups, but I like the idea.
Who is going to sponsor it officially?

I’ve created a Google Group! :D

In a little while, I’ll send out the links to everyone who has expressed interest.

Alright. All of the invites have been sent. If you didn’t get a message and would like to join the group, please PM me.

Thanks.
When will the first “session” be?

Not sure about that…we’ll probably start with some forum discussion before we hold a “session.” Especially since we have yet to determine what a “session” will entail.

Been lurking on these for a while, but I figured I"d might as well post here.

I’d be interested in joining the study group.

Don’t really have a ton of experience, though- almost (not quite) made semis last year (as a junior), taking AP bio this year.

Still though, I’ll be looking forward to learning.

Hey, been on these forums for a year or so, finally made an account so I can talk with you guys. I’m a rising sophomore, and I made semis last year with 29, and I will be taking AP bio.

I’m interested in joining the study group, add me?

Thanks.

I’m also interested in joining the group. Could you add me?

I’m definitely new around here and could use all the help I can get! Does anybody know how many kids nationwide take the open exam?
I literally only just started to think about the USABO, and the more I look, the more intimidated I get. HELP! I probably should’ve started earlier though, so really, I brought this on myself.

Is it possible to add me to the Google Group as well? This sounds really beneficial and I’d really like to participate. Thank you so much!

I’m kind of panicking right now, I had no idea people were studying all summer for this. I’m a rising junior with only one regular biology class (we didn’t have honors) under my belt, and I’ve never taken the exam, but I’m taking AP Bio this year. I really want to dedicate my time to this but will I be okay starting out now?

To both of you, better late than never. If you’re seriously dedicated, you can finish Campbell by December in an efficient manner. Then, January, do a review of Campbell and maybe read Albert’s.

At least, that’s what I plan to do.

Hey there! I took AP Bio as a sophomore last year and got a 4 (due to the really weird curve), but I’m really interested in at least making semis. Could you please add me to the study group? In addition, to make camp, how much more effort do you all think I would need to put in (considering my 4 on AP Bio)?

@TeamRocketGrunt, I did take AP Bio last year and did well on the AP test, but I kind of dropped bio over the summer, and now looking at USABO questions, I feel suddenly very unprepared, like I took the class a few years back, not just a summer ago. D:
But I really do like your study plan - that’s probably what I’ll end up doing.

Thanks for the encouragement :)

Guys, I’m sorry, but I cannot tell who I have and have not invited since my sent messages aren’t showing up. If you would like to join the group and haven’t heard back from me yet, please just PM me.

Thanks!

Hachi, no problem! You’re definitely not alone; I’m on chapter 3 (but I’ve skipped around some). I plan to finish chapters three and four this week, five-seven next week, and just continue like this until the end of December. After I’m about 90% done with Campbell, I plan to start Raven’s and/or Alberts.

Hello DisciplinusBonus: It appears I don’t have enough posts to PM you, so I would like to ask here: Can I can join the study group? If so, please do add me. Thanks!

hi guys. I’m really interested in joining this study group, can you add me too? I’m a USABO beginner, just started studying for USABO this summer.

I have a question. I see many people studying for like 2 hours every day, but I’m only planning on reading 1 chapter a day. Is that enough? What else should I be doing?

It doesn’t really matter how long you read, as long as you read efficiently. I mean, I could go and cram in about 2 or 3 chapters today, but I’ll forget all of it in about a week, so that’s kind of a waste of time. Just try to aim for one chapter a day, but if you don’t hit the mark, don’t sweat it. Just work on getting Campbell done by December or January, and review the last two weeks of January. Take the test the first week of February.

As for other stuff you should be doing, take past USABO Opens and Semis. There’s also a Canadian National BO exam that you can take.

Heh. You guys are hardcore; I never studied 2+ hours/day for USABO :D
