By the way, when I said to which school, I meant to say, college within Penn.

I just spoke with UPenn Admissions. Was told they are definitely going to waitlist and have started contacting students via email and portal. Was reminded that it is a rolling process and some students will not hear until June. Was also told that all students will eventually be contacted with final admission decision.

^ 3plus1

This is for undergrad, non transfer waitlist students??

Yes, undergraduate, nontransfer. I did not ask about specific schools.

^ Thank you for the verification. I know that transfer students heard today starting at 3 pm.

Harvard’s wait list postings are so much more active than this one for Penn. Do I take it as a good sign, that there are less people hoping to get accepted from the waitlist here. Has anyone gotten a phone call, e-mail or any news of their status??

Hey everyone,
I got my email from my school’s college counselor saying “Penn will also probably not go to their waitlist this year.” They had some other stats too that seemed pretty accurate. I was sad to hear this but it seems like the admission is not saying the same thing according to the posts above. Anyone care to clarify?

^I am pretty sure of 3plus1’s insight.

well as they said in the decision letter, they accepted only about 100 students from the waiting list last year! So if they have put 3’000 students on the waiting list, it’s gonna be wild :P

has anyone received any feedback from penn yet?

All I know in addition to what I said earlier, was after the May 1 commitments came in they review how many openings they have in each of the colleges/departments, and then they review and evaluate each of the waitlist applicants again, with “fresh eyes”.

Meaning the waitlist applicants were not put in a top to bottom order when originally notified.

I just know the the waiting in almost painful, enough already!!

Anyone else hear yet? Just bumping it up xD

I sent additional information to my regional admissions counselor last Thursday (I had a few updates of the past weekend), and as of today (Monday) have not received a reply. I know when I sent my first letter, I had received an email reply almost immediately, so I’m guessing there was probably a decision made one way or another and that my counselor is probably not at liberty to send me an email at the moment
Just got rejected from Brown today, want the waiting game here and Columbia to be over.

bandgeek maybe the adcom has been super busy this past weekend. keep up hope! i am :)

by the way, i have a few questions.
- do we know if anybody has been accepted off the waitlist yet?
- do we know that penn is using the waitlist for sure?
- when did waitlist applicants start hearing back last year? do we have a specific date?

I heard yesterday that one of the seniors at my highschool officially got accepted to Penn off the waitlist. Hope this helps.

Hey all, you might want to follow the “schools going to waitlist” thread here to: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1129279-2011-going-off-their-waitlist.html
Good luck on your dream school!

Hi prsp22, do you know how accurate that information is? Last year they started hearing back around June 4th. It seems a bit early. Thanks! (And if you do know how she/he heard back that will be awesome. :)

The girl had people commenting on her facebook wall saying, “Congradulations on getting into Penn!”. Also I asked her friend about it and they said that she got in off the waitlist. I have not heard how but I could ask some more questions and post them.

I just spoke with someone in Undergrad Admissions, and they have NOT called anyone off the waitlist as yet, if you are 2011 HS grad, entering as a freshamn this fall. When people begin ( she would not confirm when that might be) being called it will continue until mid-June, and then you will be notified if you are not being accepted from the waitlist because the college is full.

So we are still in a holding pattern and circling.

mcgrounded-

very helpful. thanks for sharing your conversation.

Damn, I just wish they could notify us so I could finally know with no doubts where I’m going.

Would it help our chances to tell them we no longer require financial aid? I know they say they are need-blind, but are they REALLY?
