Does anyone know if they work all regions at once, and which regions have been contacted to date?

Also what are the chances of a waitlist app. from the same school, for the same major getting called when an EA has already accepted?

@daswan Chillgen and I do not live in the los angeles and oc area-- that is a different admissions officer! I really am curious as to why they would change officers suddenly; maybe our region was already overfilled? I hope not…

Hey guys, sorry I didn’t follow up. I live in VA and applied to CAS. The valedictorian of my 200-person class is going to Penn, so I’m pretty surprised I made it off the list. Our school typically only has 1-2 people accepted to top schools (not just Ivies) per year.

My SATs were within the middle 50% and my only hook was being a QuestBridge Scholar. The rest of my app was pretty average, though I had all A’s on my transcript (4.16 UW).

Good luck, everyone!

EDIT: Also, I sent a letter almost immediately. It was about a page and a half and mentioned Penn as my first-choice. I devoted separate paragraphs after the first paragraph to things that I had done since I sent in my app (went to states in swimming, attended biology seminar, etc.). The letter is probably the reason I got in.

@daswan I meant caveat, sorry.

VanguardV:

Whatever the reason you got off the waitlist~congratulations to you.

I was wondering did the other student from your HS also get accepted to the CAS? Or a different college? Just really trying to find out if there is a reason , could be you are correct that your hook was being a Quest Bridge Scholar. Excuse my ignorance but is that the same or similar to a Merit Scholar?

If you have a chance I would be curious to know the answer.

VanguardV

Did some research on Quest Bridge, what a wonderful award and scholarship award oppurtunity. Again congrats and good luck.

Hey everyone!

thought you might find these articles about colleges waitlists interesting…

[How to Get Off the Wait List and Into College - US News and World Report](http://www.usnews.com/education/articles/2008/04/16/how-to-get-off-the-wait-list-and-into-college)

[Penn waitlists 2,400 for Class of 2015 | The Daily Pennsylvanian](http://www.dailypennsylvanian.com/article/penn-waitlists-2400-class-2015)

this one is perhaps the most interesting with some stats about last year:

[College waitlists: using last year’s statistics to predict this year’s odds of admittance |](http://www.ellenrichardseducationalservices.com/college-admissions/college-waitlists-using-last-years-statistics-to-predict-this-years-odds-of-admittance/)

To sum um: LAST YEAR STATS: The university of Pennsylvania waitlisted 3’000 applicants, 1’800 agreed to remain on the waitlist and 40 got off the list, which means only 2%…

From what I’ve seen, they “only” put 2’400 applicants on the waitlist this year and plan to accept around 100. However, if we use last year stats to try to predict the unpredictable, this year stats would be:
2’400 applicants were offered a spot on the waitlist
1’440 agreed to remain on the list
32 applicants will get off the list.

Hope you all found that useful!

For those of us that …the wait continues…

Well, today is the deadline of those that have already been contacted and offered admissions for the waitlist 2 wks ago to accept or pass on Penn.

If any of you hear anything, positive or negative please pass it along to us who are still holding out for that last thread of hope.

Good luck to all! One who like to think we will all be rewarded for not giving up. LOL

students were notified on 5/19/11 and given a week not 2 weeks to accept.

@ TIGERSSHOCKEYLAX

Yes, I agree and that 1 wk is up today. It just feels like two weeks. Thank you for the correction.

I just received an email from UPenn. Unfortunately I won’t be part of the class of 2015.

Wish you all good luck !

Rejected as well. Good luck everyone!! Heading to
Cal <333333

Yep, rejected as well
Well good luck to all! Northeastern here I come!

Just got an email saying that I’m on an extended waitlist–very short email, doesn’t sound too optimistic, but glad to be kept in the loop and definitely glad to be kept on the list. For anyone who is interested (I am currently analyzing every word of this haha) the email reads:

"Thank you for your continued interest in the University of Pennsylvania and remaining on our Wait List for the Class of 2015. We expect to know whether we will extend any additional offers of admission by mid-June.

We are retaining a small number of students, including you, on our active Wait List. It is possible that a few spots will become available and we want to continue considering you for admission."

From what I can see of this, the class is full, but I guess they want to keep a few people around in case people decide to take a spot from another waitlist at another school. I’m thinking of sending an email to see how many people are on the extended waitlist. I wonder if anyone was accepted in this cycle. And honestly, I’m not quite sure how I feel about this–at this point, I sort of want this waitlist hell to be over. I’m afraid they’re going to notify me about being rejected from the waitlist over prom weekend or something, and that just would not be fun to experience :/

I’ve been put on the extended waitlist too (Wharton). I just want the doubt to be over! >_> Has UPenn ever touched their extended waitlist?

^D got the same letter today.

If you do send an email to find out how many of us are still in limbo, would love to know. Wonder if they keep the same amount for each of the various colleges or it is proporitioned to the actual size of each college, ie, CAS has the most new students, etc.

WHERE THERE IS HOPE THERE IS LIFE…let’s just hope Penn doesn’t come along and snuff it out.

Also Wharton

I just checked the old waitlist threads for upenn. It seems that no one has ever gotten off of the extended waitlist. Well, goodbye upenn… >_>

Rejected as well. Whatever, I guess Penn just wasn’t the place for me. Off to Northeastern!

Lol, just got the rejection email as well. Suppose I’ll have to settle for Dartmouth.

Today would have been the deadline to reply to the first round of waitlist offers, so I’m assuming the class has been filled. I’m sorry to those of you rejected, but maybe a spot will open and someone off the extended waitlist will be able to fill it.
