MIT didn’t assign me a different EC for some reason. I then asked them to waive my interview and they did, saying the lack of it wouldn’t put me at a disadvantage (Yeah right…).

My interests were completely different from my interviewer’s, but we didn’t clash and had a really interesting conversation. We talked about building catapults, hacking at MIT (he told me about climbing on the roof of a building by the Charles River to watch fireworks and advised me how to go about hacking…“you’ve gotta do it at least once, just find somebody really experienced and don’t get caught” lol.), research, etc. At first I thought he was going to be really formal and all because he’s a professor, but he was a genuinely cool guy to talk to who got me way more interested in MIT. The only thing that worried me was when I asked about the social scene and he talked about bonding every night over problem sets…hahahaha. I’m hoping he was joking. 9/10
