<p>Hey everyone! I am just joining this thread/college confidential in general now. Sadly, I was deferred. 
Congrats to everyone who was accepted!!! Be proud of yourselves, you deserve it!</p>
<p>Hola Everyone!!!
I’m so happy to tell you that I’ve been admitted to Williams just today, and since I started this process in 2009 I swore to myself that I’ll do everything to tell my story to as much people as I can, and to spread a message of hope. In short I was born and raised in a small town abroad. it’s really small and as you can imagine the opportunities here are not that great!! anyway when I was 14 I won a contest, which prize was to go to Harvard and present a project about city development. It was the first time I went out of my country, and once I was there I decided that I’ll study in a great school in the US, but it seemed unlikely because I’m middle-class citizen from a poor country, however I didn’t give up and start working for my dream, when I graduated in 2009 I went to Boston all by myself with little money. I went to take some classes at the Harvard extension school, and I have to tell you living alone in Boston during the cruel winter has been one of the hardest task I have ever encountered but also it has been the best time of my life. There were times when I didn’t have money to eat, nights when I cried for hours because I missed my family and because I was scared of being in a place where everything seemed strange. As the days passes my situation changed completely, I found one of my best friends, had a great time, and decided to apply to Harvard, some others Ivies and Williams for the class of 2014. At the end all of the Ivies rejected me and Williams putted me on the waiting list. I was really heartbroken as you can see in this past thread <a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/williams-college/922294-waitlist-decisions-class-2014-a.html[/url]”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/williams-college/922294-waitlist-decisions-class-2014-a.html</a>, nevertheless in the same thread an amazing women encouraged me not to give up, and I didn’t I decided to re-apply to Williams against all the people who said that it was pointless (including some people on my family and my best friends), and TODAY I GOT IN!! so I want all you to realize that you can give up on your dreams and even though sometimes we “failed” as I did last spring when all the schools rejected me, you have to raise above and keep trying, I read in a book that brick walls are in our paths to show us how badly we want something. So to all of you who probably didn’t make it or won’t make it to you dream school DON’T GIVE UP, AND DON’T EVEN LET THAT THOSE DECISION MAKE YOU DOUBT YOUR WORTH AS A PERSON. And to all the international and not internationals who have break the mold and decided or want to apply to schools where apparently only wealthy people can even dream of, contact me and I’ll be more than happy to help you with the little knowledge that I’ve gained during this process.
P.S don’t let people tell you that you need perfect SAT scores or such to get in a school like Williams because to be honest mine are far from perfect and still I made it!!!

<p>Esdienti–very happy to hear your story. It’s one of persistence. You will be a more committed student for it. My daughter (from WA State) is applying RD. She had applied for WOW, but didn’t get in for that. Will have to see how it shakes out for everyone? :)</p>
