***Official 2020 Georgetown RD Applicant Thread

Princeton

If you could also offer some insight as to whether you think I’d have a decent shot at these alternatives, I’d appreciate it.

Also a two-year varsity basketball player @JoeGoe

Hi all! My name is Jarrett and I’m applying to Georgetown RD after being deferred from Penn ED. I am applying to CAS (which I guess is the most competitive) with an intended major in philosophy (and perhaps I’ll double major with history as well). To all those deferred, my heart goes out to you, but I’m sure you’ll do great. To my fellow RD applicants, good luck!

Also, can someone clarify for me Georgetown’s policy with test scores? Which ones do I need to send?

@gtownsfsvg7 Your stats are objectively better than mine were when I got in RD, so you definitely have a decent shot at admission. Try having your high school counselor call the admissions office and have him or her ask why you were deferred. My current roommate did this. Another thing that may be helpful, and a friend suggested this, would be to write a letter of interest and include more in-depth stuff about a specific program/professor that you like at Georgetown and how it ties into the future you want for yourself. Good luck in late March!

My interview was last night and I felt reasonably good about it. The man interviewing me was also an extremely liberal vegan so I think we really hit it off and he said that he’d be “thrilled to give his recommendation.” No complaints there!

one of my top choices. hi guys.

Would anyone like to help me out and tell me whether I have a chance (no matter how small) to make it into Georgetown College or not?
URM
3.8 weighted (Crazy upward trend after freshman year)
1330 SAT (CR+M)
30 ACT
300+ Volunteer hours
Quite a few Awards and Honors as well.
In plenty of clubs and have varsity letters from 5 different sports (all-state in soccer)

I know it’s hard to judge, but like I said is it worth it to apply?
Thanks!

If I didn’t take the 3 SAT subject tests, but I took the ACT with writing and got a 33, and have a 3.94 UW GPA with extracurriculars like theater, choir, newspaper, leadership, dance, model UN, key club, and foreign exchange do I still stand a chance of getting in? I know they say it’s strongly recommended but how much will this hurt my chances?

My daughter has a 33 ACT, a 3.93 UW, and 3 subject tests – 770 lit and two 700s and strong ECs. I hope she gets in. You both will be competing against a whole lot of other people with 3 subject tests.

Anyone have a countdown?

I’m so stressed I can’t even think straight. Ugh.

What questions did you ask your interviewer for SFS at the end of the interview?

@thegoldlocket My tour guide said they really like to see three Subject Tests, but I only did one. I did foreign exchange as well and I think that experience is more important than those test scores, so if they don’t want me because I don’t have that, then Georgetown is probably not the place for me. It sounds like you’re very involved and probably had great recommendations. Admissions is a comprehensive process, so I’m sure they won’t just throw your application out for not having three more tests.

is it bad that my secondary school report and one of my teacher recs haven’t been sent yet? i gave them the forms they needed but for some reason georgetown hasn’t received anything besides only one of my teacher recs

Did the deadline get pushed back to the 11th? I see it on some of Georgetown’s website pages but not others. And is the deadline at midnight?

^^^^^ What he said. I need to know.

@BostonBrotha @cornellaspirant The Georgetown Admissions official Twitter says it has been extended until the 11th: https://twitter.com/UgrdAdmissionGU/status/684789601093947393 No word on what time though.

Thank you so much. You’re a gem. I assume it’s before midnight on that Monday, but one can never be too certain, haha.
