@haagensass yes I plan on it !!
Is there anyone who called the AO and got the decision?
My son called the OA today and received his decision over the phone. He had not received a letter so assumed a rejection, but he was accepted!! So for anyone who has yet to hear, there is still hope! Good luck!!
Does anyone have an idea of how many students are waitlisted? I had imagined it was maybe 1000-2000, but I just read an article from class of 2018 admissions year that 140 students of 250 waitlisted were offered a spot.
Is this right?? 250 seems particularly small and 140 seems particularly large, considering that would be 56% acceptance from the waitlist. Am I reading this right? Because if this year is similar at all, then there is hope!!
Here is the article from the school newspaper
http://www.thehoya.com/waitlist-enrollment-completes-class-of-2018/
The wait list notification came with a list of percentages by year by college, and none were anywhere near 56%. The only thing I can imagine is that the notification list was percentage of people offered the wait list, and the newspaper wrote about the percentage of people accepted who actually took their position on the wait list. But I am guessing.
@2016hsmom congratulations!
I can’t figure out the 250 spots thing. Now I’m really curious!
http://www.thehoya.com/regular-decision-admissions-rate-holds-steady/
This is from this year and it says 2000 students were offered waitlist spots and they expect 70 to 100 will be offered admission.
Maybe out of the 2000 students offered the spot, only 250 actually accepted the spot? Still seems rather small, though.
From the common data set Class of 2018. 2200 offered wl spots. 1300 accepted wl. 140 admitted from wl
Accepted (and declined) SFS. SAT 1950. GPA ~3.7 UW. Relatively poor financial aid, among the worst packages I received. Accepted offer from Columbia that was all grants and no loans. Best wishes to all those starting in the fall!
does anyone know for sure if waitlist decisions will not start coming out until May?
@stodghill I’d assume so, since they won’t know how many students are enrolling until after May 1
@DoubleD11 thank you
Hey guys, where did you check your financial aid offers from? Am an international student waiting to hear from Gtown about FA so I can commit
@raider659816 Right, so, there are four sets of numbers involved, in descending order of size:
- Number of students offered a spot on the waitlist.
- Number of students who accept a spot on the waitlist.
- Number of students offered admission off of the waitlist
- Number of students offered admission off of the waitlist who accept that offer.
Anyone get a letter from the adcom that reviewed their app? I think they have a couple of different templates they send out. I got the MUN one. Anyone else?
@Anonymoose3 Mine was about community service!
@Anonymoose3 I got the one about community service as well!
I got the community service one too.
In other news, has anyone else had terrible experiences with any staff? My calls are never returned, I can rarely get someone on the phone and also have been treated very rudely.
