@pineappledragon Congratulations, I hope you the best. I hope some miracle gets me in too. Do you recommend something? Please, I would greatly appreciate it.
@apattie123 Huh??? I didn’t get off the waitlist yet. I sent in a LOCI and a brief follow up, and I selected the gap year option. We’ll see what happens.
@HorsesPwn42 Thank you!
@pineappledragon What did the email state? (If you don’t mind sharing). Should we have hope? In your perspective,
are there an adequate amount of seats left so students can be taken from the waitlist?
@apattie123 it’s @HorsesPwn42 that got off the wait list not @pineappledragon.
I apologize for the misunderstanding. @HorsesPwn42
Did you send a letter of interest? What actions did you take to be taken off the waitlist? Congratulations, I hope you the best. I hope some miracle gets me in too. Do you recommend something? Please, I would greatly appreciate it.
@apattie123 Don’t worry, I’ll share info with you.
I can’t give specifics about my LOCI, but I basically reiterated my interest, demonstrated fit (without repeating my why UChicago essay), and sent in updates.
In my opinion, we should have little, if any, hope, especially with EA/ED/ED2 this year. At the same time, they’re taking people off the waitlist already, meaning that they are confident that there is space left. If there were only ~10 spots, they’d wait until May. I’d expect 40 spots at most, though.
Let me know if you need more information about me. I’m at school so I’ll be back in a few hours.

its was rather casual. Just asking me if I had a few minutes to spare so that he could talk and asked for my phone number
@pineappledragon
I truly appreciate your cooperation. Is it still possible for there to be around 100-200 seats? This has happen in past years. Can we still hope?
Congratulations! 1st person on CC to be admitted off the waitlist!
Look, I don’t know the entire scope as I am just a student, but some calculations from the other thread suggests that their predicted yield is 73% which is a 7% jump from last year. I am a bit more sceptical about that even with the ED’s, so I believe there is hope.
@apattie123 73% is very high, last year it was 66% and many counselors started to close off the waitlist. Now, what
does that mean with a 73% yield.?
@apattie123 100-200 seats is WAY too many for a school like UChicago. I wouldn’t call it impossible if yield was really freaky this year (which is possible), but I think over 100 seats is severely pushing. I’d be grateful for 50-ish.
Also, not everyone who is offered a spot on the waitlist will be a user on College Confidential. Thus, for all we know, acceptances off the waitlist may have started last week and we are only hearing about acceptances this week. Most of the seats may have already been taken by now lol
In the call, my AO mentioned that he has or was going to make a few calls today.
@Bakasworld UChicago usually takes people off the waitlist in April, but they don’t take everyone off within the first few weeks. They most likely take the people they really want early on, then fill in the rest as time goes on. I’m willing to bet we’ll see more acceptances in the coming weeks.
Does anyone think people will be accepted tomorrow?
@apattie123 Yes, it is very possible.
@pineappledragon Congratulations! Do you think I hurt my chance since I haven’t sent any LOCI yet?
Whoops sorry, I meant @HorsesPwn42
